Moving your store from Shopify to WooCommerce does not mean losing your reviews. Export them, swap the product IDs, and import them into your new store. It takes about an hour.
This works whether your reviews are currently in WiserReview or in another review app such as Judge.me, Loox, Yotpo, Stamped, Fera, or Okendo.
Why you cannot just reconnect the same account
Every review is linked to a product ID. Shopify and WooCommerce generate their own product IDs, and they never match. A review attached to Shopify product 8123456789012 has nothing to point at once you are on WooCommerce.
So the migration is an export, an ID swap, and an import.
Step 1: Get your WooCommerce store live first
Build the WooCommerce store completely before you touch reviews. Every product that has reviews needs to exist in WooCommerce with its final product ID.
If you import reviews before the catalog is finished, any review pointing to a product that does not exist yet will not display.
Step 2: Export your reviews
If your reviews are in WiserReview:
- Log in to your WiserReview dashboard on the Shopify account.
- Go to Manage Reviews and click Export.
- Choose Export published reviews. Run it again for unpublished reviews if you want those too.
- You will get an email with a download link. Save the CSV.

If your reviews are in another review app: export them to CSV from that app. We have step by step export guides for most platforms in the Import Reviews section.
Either way, the file contains your review text, ratings, dates, reviewer names, photo and video URLs, and the Shopify product ID for each review.
Step 3: Swap Shopify product IDs for WooCommerce product IDs
This is the only real work in the migration.
Export both product catalogs so you have a mapping key:
- Shopify: Products → Export → all products, CSV. You get Handle and SKU per row.
- WooCommerce: Products → Export (built-in CSV exporter). Include ID and SKU.
SKU is usually the reliable match between the two files, since SKUs normally carry over during a store migration. Product name works too if your SKUs are inconsistent.
You have three ways to do the swap:
Option A: Do it yourself in a spreadsheet. Open the review CSV, add a lookup column, and match Shopify ID to SKU to WooCommerce ID with VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP.
Option B: Use an AI tool. Paste the review CSV and both catalogs into ChatGPT or Gemini and ask it to replace each Shopify product ID with the matching WooCommerce product ID, keeping every other column untouched. Spot check 10 rows before you trust the output.
Option C: Send it to us. Email your review CSV, your Shopify product catalog, and your WooCommerce product catalog to support and we will do the swap and send the file back.
The finished CSV should be identical to the export except the product ID column now holds WooCommerce IDs.
Step 4: Install the WiserReview WooCommerce plugin
- Install and activate the WiserReview plugin for WooCommerce and connect it to your new account.
- Skip the widget install step during onboarding. Set widgets up after the reviews are in, so they render with real content instead of an empty state.
- Subscribe to a plan.
Step 5: Import your corrected CSV
- In the new dashboard, go to Manage Reviews → Import Reviews.
- Choose Import Reviews Via CSV and click Integrate.
- Select source Custom, name the task (for example, “Shopify migration”), leave encoding on UTF-8, and upload your file.
- On the Field Mapping screen, match each WiserReview field to your CSV column.
Required mappings:
- ⭐ Rating (1 to 5)
- 📅 Review Date (YYYY-MM-DD)
- 👤 Reviewer Name
Also map, if present in your file:
- Product ID (your new WooCommerce IDs)
- Order ID
- Review image and video URLs. We download the media and host it on our servers, so old links do not break.
Once the task shows Completed, your reviews appear under Manage Reviews.
Step 6: Set up widgets and review campaigns
Widget settings and automation campaigns do not travel in the CSV. Set them up fresh on the WooCommerce side:
- Install your product page review widget, star ratings, and any carousel or wall of love
- Rebuild your review request automation with the new WooCommerce order triggers

FAQ
Do photos and videos carry across?
Yes. Media URLs in the export are downloaded and rehosted on WiserReview servers during import.
What about reviews already sitting in native WooCommerce?
If your new WooCommerce store also collected some native reviews, you can bring those in too. See Export and import native WooCommerce reviews.
Can I keep my old store connected during the switch?
Yes. Keep it connected until the new one is verified, then cancel.
What if some reviews have no product ID?
Store level reviews without a product ID import fine and show in site wide widgets. Only product page widgets need a valid product ID.
How long does the import take?
Under 1,000 reviews is usually a few minutes. Larger files take longer, especially with a lot of photos and videos to download.
