What's new in WiserReview

The AI Review Story widget has a cleaner look on your storefront. The pill a shopper taps to open it is more compact, with tighter spacing, smaller customer faces and an arrow so it reads as something to tap. The stories themselves sit on a refreshed purple gradient, and the wording that comes with a new widget is shorter and quicker to scan. Two slides that used to be switched off to start with, the topics your reviews mention most and the share of shoppers who rated the product four stars or more, are now on for a new widget, so the story says more about your reviews without any setup. Each slide is named in the editor as well, which makes it easier to tell them apart when you reorder them or turn one off, and a shopper now sees which story of the set they are on. A widget you have already worded and coloured yourself keeps your settings.

Setting up an Ecwid store was harder than it should have been. Starting the connection from inside WiserReview sent you back out to a sign in page you were already signed in to, and the connection could fail on that hop instead of simply returning you to your review requests. Reconnecting a store that was already linked lost the store address we had saved the first time, so parts of the app no longer knew where your storefront was. A store whose ID had been saved in a different format was not always recognised on a later connect, so returning merchants could look like a brand new store. All three now behave correctly, and a reconnect keeps the details from your original setup. There is also a Disconnect option on your Ecwid automation now, with a confirmation step, which removes the connection and its review request automations in one go rather than leaving you to contact support. If your Ecwid account has no email address on it, the connection now stops with a clear failure instead of attaching your store to the wrong account.

Answers to your custom questions were not always coming through the way shoppers gave them. On the review wall, an answer could appear under the wrong question whenever one of your questions was held back by its product conditions, so the card read as nonsense. A yes or no answer was dropped from the review card altogether when the answer was no, and the star colour on a custom rating answer ignored the colour set for that widget. In your CSV export, yes and no answers came out blank, and a custom question with the same name as one of the built in columns, such as Rating or Location, overwrote that column. On the review form itself, a shopper who hit a required field warning and then filled it in could save the same answer twice. Every one of these now behaves as it should, on the widgets, in the form and in your export.

An order that your automation deliberately set aside still cost you one review request. If you skip customers who have already left a review, or you use the domestic and international timing filters, or every product on an order had already been reviewed, the order moved to the Miss tab and no email was ever sent, yet a request had already come off your allowance. Those requests are now given straight back when the order is set aside, so your allowance only counts the emails that actually went out. This covers your plan allowance and any extra requests you have bought, on Shopify, Wix and every other connected store.

If you had switched on "Notify me when a new question is posted" but had not also filled in an alert email address, nothing was ever sent. Shoppers asked questions on your products and the first you knew of it was the next time you opened the Questions & Answers screen. The alert now falls back to your account email whenever no alert address is set, so the notification arrives either way. If you do list addresses, the first one is still the recipient and the rest are copied in, and spaces or a trailing comma in that list no longer break the send.

An email field that you had marked optional still had to be filled in before the form would submit. The shopper got a red box on a question they were entitled to skip, with nothing explaining why, and a good number of them simply closed the form. An email address left blank on an optional field is now accepted and the review goes through. If a shopper does type something in, it is still checked for a valid address, so you are not left with broken emails on your reviews. Applies to both the single page and step by step review forms.

When a shopper pasted a YouTube link while writing a review on your store review page, the product reference was saved into the video field instead of the link itself. The video never appeared on the review, and the link the shopper took the trouble to add was lost for good. The link is now stored as given, so a review submitted with a YouTube video shows that video on your widgets and on the review card.

When your store sent the same fulfilled order through more than once, which happens on a retry or when a fulfilment is updated, a second review request was queued for it. Your customer got the same email twice and it used up another request from your allowance. Repeat sends of an order already in the queue are now recognised and set aside in the Incomplete tab, with a count of how many times the order came back, so nothing is sent twice and your allowance is left alone. Covers Shopify and OpenCart stores, alongside the platforms already handled this way.

Tagging products on your Instagram posts, publishing them to the UGC widget and auto posting were only available to the other connected platforms, so an OpenCart store could add posts but not finish setting them up. OpenCart is now handled like every other connected store: tag the products on a post from your synced catalogue, publish it, and the post carries the right product link and image through to your storefront.

Parts of the review form were fixed in English and could not be changed: the message shown when a browser blocks the camera and the button to ask for access again, the warning when a file is too large or the upload limit is reached, the mic-blocked notice, the start and stop recording buttons, the record, upload and write-a-review headings and their subtitles, the review box placeholder, the dropdown placeholder, the copied tooltip and the AI enhance tip. All of these can now be edited, and they are picked up when you translate a form into another language, along with the choices in your dropdown, radio and checkbox questions, which were being left in the original language before. Upload problems now read out on the form next to the upload itself rather than in a browser pop-up a customer has to dismiss. Leave any of the wording untouched and what your form says today stays exactly as it is.

A review that came in with more than one photo or video only ever showed the first one on your product reviews widget, so the rest went unseen unless a shopper opened the review. Turn on showing multiple images and the card now leads with the first photo and lays the others out as thumbnails beneath it, up to five, with videos first. The card option itself has also been turned the right way round: it used to read "Hide media image", so ticking it took photos away, and it now reads "Show media image" and does what it says. Your widgets keep showing exactly what they show today, only the label changed.

Setting WiserReview up meant reading through a help article. A Watch setup video button now sits on the Platform integrations panel on your dashboard and on your automation screens, and plays the walkthrough for your own platform without leaving the app. Videos are available for Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace and Wix, plus one for setting up review request automations.

The review feed URL on the Google Shopping page was built from your site address exactly as you had typed it, so a "www." prefix, capital letters or a port number produced a link that did not match where the feed is actually published. Submitting it to Google Merchant Center returned nothing. The page now shows the real feed address.

Starting a Google Business Profile or Facebook connection from your dashboard took you through sign-in and then dropped you back on the dashboard with nothing open, so the connection looked like it had failed and the only way through was to go to the Integrations page and start over. You now come back to the review import window for the account you just connected, ready to bring those reviews in.

When a customer typed their email address into the name field on a review form, or an imported review carried an address there, the whole address was shown publicly as the review author on your storefront widgets and in Manage Reviews. Incoming reviews now keep only the name part, so "[email protected]" reads as "jane doe". Reviews already saved are left as they are.

Some questions put to AI Search came back as an error rather than results, and the only way forward was to rephrase and try again. Those searches now run, and when a question still cannot be turned into a filter the reviews are searched by text across review content and title, reviewer name and email, and product and order reference, so you get matches instead of an error. Paging through an AI Search keeps the same set of results from one page to the next.

Reviewer photos, company logos and product images were still being downloaded by the browser even when you had switched them off in the widget settings, so shoppers paid for pictures they never saw. Each one is now fetched only when it is actually shown, and product images in the product reviews widget and the wall load as they come into view. Pages with a lot of reviews make far fewer image requests and finish loading sooner, across the product reviews widget, wall, review wall, product carousel, auto slider, avatar, sidebar CTA, floating badge, popup and verified badge widgets.

Squarespace and Wix stores can now launch a manual campaign from their own orders instead of uploading a CSV. Pick a date range and review requests go to everyone whose order was fulfilled in it, with each product name, image and link filled in from your catalogue. Customers who unsubscribed, and products a customer has already reviewed, are left out. Orders are read in the background so the launch answers straight away, and History shows the campaign as Preparing, Sending, Completed or Failed while that happens.

The star rating widget read "0 reviews" on products nobody had reviewed yet, which says nothing useful to a shopper. You can now write your own line for that case, "Write the first review", for example, with your own formatting, and translate it into every language your store sells in. It replaces the review count wherever the star rating appears: product and collection pages, the Shopify theme block and WooCommerce product pages. Leave it empty and nothing changes.

The "See original" link showed under reviews even when no translation existed for the page language, so shoppers clicked it and nothing changed. The link now appears only when a translated version of that review is actually on screen, across the product reviews widget, wall, review wall, carousel, product carousel, auto slider, avatar, sidebar CTA, floating badge and popup widgets.

When a carousel row already held every review, the previous and next arrows and the autoplay button still appeared and did nothing, and the cards sat against one edge instead of being centred. The row is now centred, and the arrows, autoplay and auto-sliding only appear when there are more reviews than fit, including after the widget is resized in a narrow column or sidebar.

Reviews with a country but no city or state showed "undefined" and an extra comma in the review popup location. The location now shows only the parts the review has, across all widgets.

Clicking Load More collapsed every review a shopper had already opened with Read more, so they lost their place and had to expand each one again. Expanded reviews now stay open as more load in, across the product reviews widget, the review wall, the wall, the sidebar CTA and the floating badge.

The DNS records for your sending domain can now be downloaded as a single CSV file, so you can hand the whole set to whoever manages your DNS instead of copying each value one clipboard icon at a time. The file lists every DKIM and SPF record together with its type, name, value, priority where one applies, and whether it has been verified yet.

Opening a review that has videos but no photos left the previous and next arrows in the popup doing nothing, so shoppers could not move between the videos. The arrows now follow whatever media the review actually carries, across the main widget, wall, review wall, carousel, auto slider, avatar, sidebar CTA, floating badge and popup widgets.

Turning off the WiserReview footer branding, the incentive banner, or the star rating, review title and review description rows now removes them from the review request email itself instead of hiding them with styling. Outlook ignores that styling, so anything you had switched off still arrived in those inboxes, and the emoji faces on the rating row could show in Gmail even when they were turned off. The browser version of the review form has been fixed the same way.

The workspace list now marks any workspace that has used up its review request quota, with the number used, the number available and the date the quota resets, so you can spot the one that has stopped sending without opening it. Quota purchased as an add-on is counted everywhere too. If you top up, the exhausted warnings on the Automate menu, the billing banner and the queue pages now clear instead of staying on screen.

Deactivating a tag that one of your widgets filters on used to quietly empty that widget. Turning one off now stops and tells you which widgets are still using it, by name, so you can update them first. The All, Active and Deactive tabs also carry a count, so you can see how your tags are split without opening each one.

The screen a shopper sees after sending a question can now carry its own heading above the message, and the close button text is set in the same place instead of alongside the form fields. The ask-a-question popup itself has been redesigned, with the question box moved to the top of the form and sizing that holds up on a phone. Widgets that never had a heading keep showing the message on its own, so nothing changes until you add one.

Reviewer names, review dates and location lines used to be clipped mid-word on narrow cards. They now wrap onto their own line or end in a neat ellipsis, across the main widget, wall, review wall, carousel, auto slider, avatar, sidebar CTA, floating badge and popup widgets.

A running review import now shows how far it has got and roughly how long is left, instead of an indefinite loading bar. Hovering the estimate tells you how many of your reviews have been brought in so far, so you know whether to wait or come back later.

Pick whether your average rating reads as 4.5 or 4.53, and have that choice apply across the star rating, main widget, wall, review wall, carousel, auto slider and floating badge rather than only on one card.

The red "Update required" banner now appears only when your installed WiserReview WooCommerce plugin is genuinely older than the latest release. Stores already on the current version, or on a newer one, no longer see it because of a version number written slightly differently.

The All Products tab now shows when each product was created and when it was last updated, and you can sort on either column. Newest first is the default, so products you have just added or changed sit at the top instead of having to be searched for.

Turning auto-renewal back on now works if you cancelled while you were still on your trial. Before this, that request failed and the plan stayed marked as cancelled, so the only way back was to contact support. Resuming now puts the plan straight back to active, keeps the rest of your trial, and does not charge you early.

The store-level rich snippet now lets you pick how your business is described to search engines, Store, Organization or Local business, instead of always being published as a product. Product markup on a store-wide page is not valid to search engines, so picking the type that matches your business gives your store rating a better chance of showing in results. Existing snippets keep publishing exactly as they do today until you choose a type.

The Last reviews list on your dashboard now shows who left each review, with a verified tick next to the ones from confirmed buyers, so you can tell your reviews apart without opening Manage Reviews.

The avatar row now keeps to a single line whatever your page size or screen width, and ends in a circle carrying your total review count. Shoppers click it to open a panel listing all of your reviews, with your average rating at the top and a load more button to page through the rest. Themes 2 and 3 also gain settings for the panel title, the average rating line and the button colours.

Labels in the Questions & Answers section: the question and answer headings, the store owner reply label and the ask-a-question button, now follow your storefront language along with the rest of your widget, instead of staying in English on non-English storefronts.

When a product has no reviews yet, show reviews from your other products, your store, or both instead of an empty section. A heading label like "Shop Reviews" sits next to your widget title, so shoppers can tell these are not reviews of this product. The same choice is applied to your star rating widget automatically, so the product page stays consistent. Borrowed reviews are kept out of the product rich snippet, so your SEO data stays accurate.

The auto-generated review video now matches the AI Review Story widget: the same gradient backdrop, review cards, star style and branding, instead of its own separate dark theme, and review photos are used as the slide background by default. Reels posted to Facebook and Instagram also open on the finished intro card now, rather than on a blank first frame.

Custom JavaScript on the star rating and verified badge widgets now runs again every time the widget re-renders, so it also applies to ratings that load further down a collection page. Custom CSS and JavaScript are no longer added to the page more than once either.

Shoppers can ask a product question and get an answer generated only from your real customer reviews, shown alongside the reviews it drew from. Available on the star rating widget.

Manual review campaigns can now send up to three automatic reminders to customers who still have not left a review. Pick how many days after the original request each reminder goes out, edit the reminder email separately from the review request, and anyone who leaves a review is dropped from their remaining reminders automatically.

Manual review campaigns now skip customers who have unsubscribed instead of spending quota on an email that is never sent. Quota already taken for an unsubscribed recipient is given back, sending a single request to an unsubscribed customer now tells you why nothing went out, and the recipient count shown before you launch a campaign counts only the customers who will actually be emailed.

Each DNS record on your sending domain now tells you exactly why it is still pending: the record has not been published yet, a record exists but its value does not match (we show you what we actually found), or everything is correct and we are simply waiting on our email provider to confirm. Records are also checked against public DNS resolvers, so a record you have already published is no longer reported as missing.

Set a different rating line for products with a single review and for products with several, so your widgets read "(1 Review)" instead of "(1 Reviews)". Available on the star rating, main widget, wall, carousel, auto slider and floating badge.

Review request emails on BigCommerce now send with working call-to-action links. Previously these emails were built on the wrong template path, so the review buttons did not open the review form.

Manual review campaigns now accept up to 5,000 rows per CSV upload, with a 3-month order-age condition on Shopify to keep campaigns focused on relevant recent buyers.

Preview the exact "ask to revise" email a shopper will receive directly from the Manage Reviews screen before you send it.

Bulk-upload your product catalog via CSV, with automatic product-group creation and updates so you can seed a new store or refresh a catalog in minutes.
