How to add a star rating in WoodMart (2026)
WoodMart shows star ratings through WooCommerce, styled in Theme Settings. Here is how to enable, place, and fix them.

WoodMart runs on WooCommerce, so there are two real ways to add star ratings to your products.
One uses WooCommerce with WoodMart’s own review settings. The other uses a review plugin that also collects reviews and feeds Google.
Each method below is self-contained. Pick the one that fits, you don’t need both.
SHORT ANSWER
Enable star ratings in WooCommerce under Settings, then Products, then the Reviews section, then customize how they look in WoodMart under Theme Settings, then Single Product, then Reviews. Or use a plugin like WiserReview to collect reviews automatically and add Google stars. Either way, stars show once a product has at least one review.
Which method should you use?
Method 1: WooCommerce + WoodMart
Turn on ratings in WooCommerce, then style them in WoodMart Theme Settings. Free, built in.
Method 2: WiserReview plugin
Collects reviews by email, SMS, and WhatsApp, then shows stars and adds Google schema.
Method 1: Add star ratings with WooCommerce and WoodMart
WoodMart has no rating engine of its own. It uses WooCommerce’s reviews, then adds styling on top. So this method has two parts: turn ratings on, then make them look right.
Turn ratings on in WooCommerce
The rating settings live on one page in WooCommerce. Follow these in order.
Step 1: Open the Products settings: In your WordPress dashboard, go to WooCommerce, then Settings, then click the Products tab at the top.

Step 2: Enable product reviews: Scroll down to the Reviews section and check “Enable product reviews” to switch on the review form under each product.

Step 3: Enable star ratings: Under Product ratings, check “Enable star rating on reviews,” then click Save changes. The stars now work on product pages.

Two optional boxes sit there too: “Show verified owner label on customer reviews” and “Reviews can only be left by verified owners.” Tick those if you only want reviews from real buyers.
That’s the engine on. A product shows no stars until it has at least one approved review, so an empty product stays blank, which is normal. For more detail, see our guide on how to add reviews to WooCommerce.
Customize the look in WoodMart Theme Settings
With ratings on, WoodMart’s review panel controls how they appear, no code. Find it under Dashboard, then Theme Settings, then Single Product, then Reviews.

Step 1: Set the review layout: Turn on “Reviews as a separate section” to move reviews into their own block below the product. It’s on by default.

Then set “Reviews columns” for how many reviews show per row on mobile, tablet, and desktop.
Step 2: Pick the form spot and style: Use “Form location” to put the review form before or after the review list, then pick a “Style” preset for how each review looks. Save changes.

Step 3: Add custom rating criteria (optional): WoodMart lets shoppers rate a product on more than one thing, like delivery time, size accuracy, or quality. In the same panel, add up to six criteria, each with a name and a simple slug like size_accuracy.

Step 4: Control stars on shop pages: Go to Theme Settings, then Products archive, then Product styles, and use the “Show empty star rating” toggle in the Layout area. Turning it off hides blank placeholder stars on products with no reviews yet.

WiserReview asks customers for reviews by email, SMS, and WhatsApp, then shows the stars on your product and shop pages. Free plan, no code.
Start Free →Method 2: Add star ratings with WiserReview
Method 1 shows ratings but never asks for them. Most stores stay stuck with a few reviews and blank stars across the catalog. This method fixes that.
WiserReview automatically asks customers for reviews, shows the stars, and adds the Google schema on its own.
Step 1: Install the plugin
In your dashboard, go to Plugins, then Add New. Search “WiserReview,” install “WiserReview Product Reviews for WooCommerce,” then click Activate.

Step 2: Connect your API key
Sign up at app.wiserreview.com/signup if you haven’t. The free plan covers the widgets and up to 100 review requests a month.

- Log in to WiserReview, open Workspace Settings, and copy your API key.
- Paste the key into the WiserReview plugin settings. It validates on its own.
- Toggle Live Mode to Enabled to switch the widgets on for your store.
Step 3: Turn on the star rating widgets
In the plugin’s Review Widgets panel, switch on the rating widgets you want, then save.

- Turn on “Rating count below product title on product detail page (PDP).”
- Turn on “Rating count on collection or listing pages (PLP)” for shop and category pages.
- Turn on “Generate Product Review Rich Snippet” so the ratings feed Google.
- Click Save Changes.
Step 4: Place the shortcode in your WoodMart product page
The toggles handle the default spots. To put the stars in a specific place on every product, copy the shortcode [wiserrw_rating_count] from the panel first.

WoodMart gives you two no-code ways to drop it in. Pick whichever suits you.
Option A: Theme Settings (simplest): Go to Theme Settings, then Single product, then Add to cart options. Paste the shortcode into the “Before add to cart button” or “After add to cart button” field. It then shows on every product.

Option B: Single Product Builder (full control): Go to Theme Settings, then Single Product, then open the layout builder. Add a Text or Shortcode element where you want the stars, paste [wiserrw_rating_count], then save.
For one specific product instead of all of them, use [wiserrw_rating_count id="123"] with that product’s ID.
Run one rating source, not two. If you use WiserReview’s widget, turn off the native WooCommerce stars from Method 1 so they don’t clash. To compare tools first, see our roundup of the best WooCommerce review plugins.
Getting your WoodMart stars into Google search
The gold stars under a Google listing come from review schema, structured data that tells Google your page carries ratings. Done right, your stars can show in results and lift click-through rates.
WooCommerce outputs basic product schema, but it isn’t always complete, and WoodMart’s styling adds none on its own.
To earn the snippet reliably, you need valid review schema plus at least one approved review. WiserReview’s rich snippet toggle from Method 2 adds it for you, or an SEO plugin can.
After setup, run the product URL through Google’s Rich Results Test to confirm the markup is valid. Stars usually appear within a couple of weeks. Our guide on WooCommerce rich snippets covers the full path.

Try WiserReview Free →Fix: WoodMart star ratings not showing

This is the most common WoodMart reviews question on the XTemos forum. Run through these in order.
- No reviews on the product: Stars need at least one approved review. A fresh product shows nothing until someone rates it. Add a test review and recheck.
- Star ratings switched off: Go back to Method 1 and confirm “Enable star rating on reviews” is ticked in WooCommerce.
- Empty stars toggled off: For placeholder stars on listings, switch “Show empty star rating” back on under Theme Settings, then Products archive.
- Loop rating not rendering: Some setups need a child theme override at
woodmart-child/woocommerce/loop/rating.php, or a plugin that handles archive display. - Caching is hiding changes: Clear your cache plugin and server cache, then hard refresh. WoodMart’s performance settings can cache aggressively too.
Which method is right for you
Already getting reviews and just want stars on your products? Method 1 turns them on and lets WoodMart style them, free and built in.
Catalog looking bare, or chasing gold stars in Google? Method 2 collects reviews for you and adds the schema.
Match the method to where your store is, and your stars land exactly where shoppers look before they buy.
