I tested 8 Fomo alternatives (honest 2026 comparison)
Looking for Fomo alternatives? Explore top social proof tools that cost less, set up faster, and convert visitors better.

Fomo is the social proof notification tool. It’s been around since 2016, it works, and a lot of businesses use it. But it’s not right for everyone.
I’ve spent years working with ecommerce and SaaS founders through building WiserNotify, and the same complaints about Fomo come up over and over: pricing that climbs as traffic grows, a setup process that takes more time than it should, and notification limits that catch people off guard mid-campaign.
So I tested eight alternatives. This is what I actually found.
Looking for a Fomo alternative?
WiserNotify shows live signups, sales, and activity. Start free, paid from $16/month.Why businesses switch from Fomo
Before getting into the list, it’s worth being specific about what actually pushes teams off Fomo. It’s not one thing.
Notification-based pricing
Fomo charges based on how many notifications you display each month. That sounds fine at first. But the moment your traffic spikes, say from a product launch or a sale, you blow through your plan’s limit and get auto-upgraded to the next tier.
A few users on Shopify forums have flagged exactly this: they ran a Black Friday campaign, notifications went out, and they found themselves on a more expensive plan without clicking anything.
If your traffic is unpredictable or seasonal, this pricing model is a real problem.
Setup requires more technical work
Fomo connects with 100+ apps, which sounds great. But that integration depth cuts both ways. Getting Fomo pulling data from the right sources, displaying the right events, and filtering out duplicates takes time.
Multiple Capterra reviews mention spending hours configuring it properly, then having duplicate notifications appear anyway.
Small teams that want social proof running in under an hour will find Fomo more work than expected.
Canceling is harder than it should be
This one comes up enough that it’s worth mentioning. Disabling notifications in Fomo doesn’t cancel your subscription.
You have to uninstall the Shopify app entirely. And downgrading to the free plan requires manually contacting support. Several App Store reviews mention being charged after they thought they’d canceled. That kind of friction leaves a bad taste.

8 best Fomo alternatives I tested in 2026
1. WiserNotify

The core difference from Fomo is flexibility. WiserNotify has 50+ notification templates covering sales popups, live visitor counts, review displays, countdown timers, announcement bars, and email capture. Fomo is primarily focused on real-time activity notifications.
If you want more notification types without juggling multiple tools, that gap matters.
A/B testing is built in, which Fomo doesn’t offer natively. You can test different templates, timing rules, or copy variations and see which one drives more clicks.
For teams that care about optimizing conversion rates rather than just turning notifications on, this is a meaningful difference.
Setup is faster too. You get one snippet of code, you paste it into your site, and WiserNotify starts pulling data automatically. No complex integration chains required for basic use. Advanced setups with webhooks and custom events are possible, but you don’t have to touch them to get started.
Pricing doesn’t change based on your notification volume. You pay for a plan level, and your notifications run within that. No surprise upgrades mid-campaign.
- ◆ 50+ notification templates including timers, banners, and review widgets
- ◆ A/B testing built in to optimize which notifications convert
- ◆ Pricing by plan tier, not notification volume - no surprise upgrades
- ◆ Works across WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, and custom sites
- ◆ Manage multiple sites from one dashboard
- ◆ Less granular CSS-level design control than Fomo
- ◆ Fewer pre-built marketplace integrations than Fomo's 100+
Pricing: Free plan available. Paid from $16/month.
Rating: 4.8/5

WiserReview helps businesses collect, manage, and display customer reviews and testimonials on their website. It allows you to gather feedback through forms, links, or email requests and approve reviews before publishing. You can then show them using widgets like sliders, review walls, or testimonial cards to build trust with visitors.
2. ProveSource

ProveSource is the tool most people land on when they search for a Fomo replacement, and for good reason.
It covers the same core use case (real-time social proof notifications), but the free plan is genuinely usable, not a 14-day trial that requires a credit card.
The free plan gives you 1,000 monthly unique visitors. That’s enough to test whether social proof notifications actually lift conversions on your site before you commit to a paid plan. Fomo’s free tier on Shopify exists but has been inconsistently available; ProveSource’s free plan is a standing offer.
On Shopify, ProveSource auto-imports your last 30 orders as soon as you install it. Your store immediately shows real purchase notifications without any setup work. That speed to live is hard to beat.
The notification types are solid: recent activity streams, combo notifications (aggregated activity like “47 people bought this week”), live visitor counts, and review popups. For most ecommerce stores, that covers everything.
Where ProveSource is weaker than Fomo: the design templates feel dated compared to what’s available elsewhere, and advanced targeting by UTM or referral source requires plan upgrades.
- ◆ Genuine free plan with 1,000 monthly visitors, no credit card
- ◆ Auto-imports Shopify orders on install for instant social proof
- ◆ 100+ integrations across ecommerce, CRM, and marketing platforms
- ◆ Paid plans start at $24/month, cheaper than Fomo's $25/month entry
- ◆ Design templates look dated compared to newer tools
- ◆ Advanced targeting by UTM or referrer source requires higher plans
- ◆ Branding removal requires paid plan upgrade
Pricing: Free plan (1,000 visitors). Paid from $24/month.
Rating: 4.6/5
3. TrustPulse

TrustPulse is the cheapest serious option on this list. Paid plans start at $5/month for up to 2,500 sessions, and there’s a free WordPress plugin that gets small sites started for nothing.
It does one thing: real-time activity notifications. Recent signups, purchases, and form submissions. The “on-fire” notification type shows aggregate activity like “47 people checked this out in the last hour,” which creates urgency without needing individual events.
Setup on WordPress takes about 10 minutes. You connect it to your form plugin or WooCommerce, pick a notification style, and it runs. No webhooks, no API configuration, no developer required.
The limitation is clear: TrustPulse doesn’t do countdown timers, announcement bars, video testimonials, or review displays. If those are on your list, you’ll need a second tool. But if you just want to show “Sarah from Denver just signed up” and nothing more, TrustPulse handles that reliably at a price that makes it easy to test.
- ◆ Cheapest paid option at $5/month for up to 2,500 sessions
- ◆ Free WordPress plugin available with no time limit
- ◆ Simple setup with no technical skills required
- ◆ On-fire notifications aggregate activity to create urgency
- ◆ Limited notification types compared to Fomo or WiserNotify
- ◆ No countdown timers, banners, or review display options
- ◆ Less useful outside WordPress and basic WooCommerce setups
Pricing: Free WordPress plugin. Paid from $5/month.
Rating: 4.5/5
Want more than basic activity popups?
WiserNotify covers social proof, timers, banners, and review widgets in one tool.4. Nudgify

Nudgify takes a different angle than Fomo. Instead of just showing what other people did, it uses behavioral psychology cues to nudge visitors toward action. Recent sales popups are part of it, but so are scarcity alerts (“only 3 left”), urgency timers, and social proof aggregations.
It works across 100+ integrations and supports 32 languages, which makes it one of the better options for international stores. That’s a meaningful edge over TrustPulse or SocialProofy if your audience spans multiple markets.
After a 7-day trial, paid plans start at $9/month for up to 10,000 visitors. That’s more visitors per dollar than most tools in this category. Fomo charges $25/month for comparable usage.
The analytics are where Nudgify is weakest. You can see which nudges are active and get basic impression data, but you can’t drill into conversion rates by notification type the way you can with Fomo or WiserNotify. If optimizing notification performance with real conversion data is important to you, that gap matters.
- ◆ Goes beyond activity popups with scarcity, urgency, and behavioral nudges
- ◆ $9/month for 10,000 visitors is better value than Fomo's entry tier
- ◆ 32-language support for international stores
- ◆ Works well on both Shopify and WooCommerce
- ◆ Analytics are basic - no granular conversion tracking by notification type
- ◆ 7-day trial is short compared to competitors' free plans
- ◆ Custom integrations beyond the 100+ list require webhook work
Pricing: 7-day free trial. Paid from $9/month (10,000 visitors).
Rating: 4.5/5
5. UseProof

UseProof (now just “Proof”) is the premium end of this market. It’s not trying to compete on price. It’s built for established SaaS companies and high-traffic sites that want advanced personalization layered onto their social proof.
The core features (recent signups, visitor counts, hot streaks) are similar to Fomo.
But Proof adds behavioral targeting: visitors can see notifications that match their segment, referral source, or behavior pattern.
A/B testing is more sophisticated. Analytics go deeper into what’s actually driving conversions.
The catch is the price. Plans start at $79/month. That’s more than 3x what Fomo’s Starter plan costs. For a small ecommerce store or early-stage SaaS, there’s no justification for that cost. For a company doing $500K+ monthly revenue where a 0.5% conversion lift is worth thousands, it changes the math.
- ◆ Advanced behavioral targeting and personalization beyond basic social proof
- ◆ Strong A/B testing with real conversion data by notification type
- ◆ Built for high-traffic sites that need detailed performance analytics
- ◆ $79/month starting price is too expensive for most small businesses
- ◆ No free plan - requires immediate financial commitment
- ◆ Heavier setup than simpler alternatives like TrustPulse or ProveSource
Pricing: From $79/month. No free plan.
Rating: 4.3/5
6. SocialProofy

SocialProofy is the budget pick. Their Lite plan starts at $3/month for 2,000 visitors and includes 30+ popup types: sales notifications, countdown timers, live visitor counts, and basic review widgets. That’s more notification variety than TrustPulse at a fraction of the cost.
It’s not polished. The templates are basic, the analytics are minimal, and the integration list is shorter than Fomo’s or ProveSource’s. You get what you pay for. But at $3/month, the bar is genuinely different.
If you’re testing whether social proof notifications move the needle on your site before committing to a real budget, SocialProofy is a reasonable starting point. Once you’ve confirmed they work, moving to WiserNotify, Nudgify, or ProveSource gives you more to work with.
- ◆ Cheapest option at $3/month for 2,000 visitors
- ◆ 30+ popup types including timers, counts, and review widgets
- ◆ No-code setup works on most website platforms
- ◆ Good for testing social proof before committing to higher plans
- ◆ Templates feel basic compared to established competitors
- ◆ Minimal analytics - limited ability to optimize performance
- ◆ Shorter integration list than Fomo, ProveSource, or WiserNotify
Pricing: Free plan available. Paid from $3/month.
Rating: 4.2/5
Ready for something more powerful?
WiserNotify has 50+ templates, A/B testing, and works on any platform. Free to start.7. Provely

Provely sits between SocialProofy and Nudgify in terms of capability and price. It shows recent sales, signups, and page activity, and adds urgency popups and banners on top of the standard notification types.
At $17/month, it’s cheaper than Fomo and includes features Fomo doesn’t: exit-intent triggers and countdown timers alongside social proof notifications. If you want that urgency layer without paying for a more expensive tool, Provely covers it.
The design quality is decent, setup is fast, and it works across most platforms. It’s not as feature-rich as WiserNotify or as polished as ProveSource, but for a small team that wants social proof plus urgency signals from one tool at a fair price, it holds its own.
- ◆ Urgency popups and countdown timers alongside social proof notifications
- ◆ $17/month is cheaper than Fomo's $25/month entry price
- ◆ Fast setup with no coding required
- ◆ Exit-intent triggers available on standard plans
- ◆ Smaller integration library than Fomo or ProveSource
- ◆ Analytics depth is limited compared to Nudgify or UseProof
- ◆ Less community support and documentation than larger alternatives
Pricing: From $17/month.
Rating: 4.2/5
8. Evidence

Evidence is built for teams that want complete control over what triggers their social proof notifications.
Instead of pre-built integrations, it uses webhooks and APIs to pull in events from whatever source you’re using.
If Fomo’s 100+ integrations still don’t include something you need, Evidence can pull data from anywhere.
That flexibility is the point. SaaS companies with custom event tracking, B2B tools with unusual conversion actions, or stores on platforms Fomo doesn’t support natively will find Evidence more accommodating.
The tradeoff is setup complexity. You need to be comfortable with webhooks and basic API configuration to get full value from Evidence. It’s not a 10-minute setup tool. At $40/month starting price, it’s also not cheap. But for the right technical team with specific data requirements, it solves problems the other tools on this list can’t.
- ◆ Pull data from any source via webhooks and APIs - maximum flexibility
- ◆ Clean, professional notification designs out of the box
- ◆ Good control over placement, timing, and display frequency
- ◆ Works across any platform that can receive a webhook
- ◆ Setup requires technical knowledge - not suitable for non-technical users
- ◆ $40/month starting price is higher than most alternatives
- ◆ No free plan or trial available to test before committing
Pricing: From $40/month. No free plan.
Rating: 4.3/5
How to switch from Fomo

Switching social proof tools is less disruptive than most people expect. Here’s the process.
Step 1: Export your Fomo configuration and data
Before changing anything, screenshot or export your current Fomo setup: which notification types you’re running, your display rules (timing, frequency, page targeting), and any custom templates you’ve built.
This is your reference for recreating the setup in the new tool.
Step 2: Install your new tool in parallel
Install the new tool alongside Fomo while Fomo is still running. Configure it to mirror your current notification setup.
Run both for one to two weeks to make sure the new tool is pulling data correctly and displaying notifications as expected before you turn off Fomo.
Step 3: Check all display rules and targeting
This is where most migrations have issues. Page-level targeting, frequency caps, and display timing rules often don’t transfer automatically between tools.
Set these manually in your new platform and test on your highest-traffic pages before going live.
Step 4: Cancel Fomo correctly
This matters more than it should. Disabling notifications in Fomo doesn’t cancel your subscription. To stop being charged, you need to uninstall the Fomo app from Shopify entirely, or contact support if you’re on Fomo’s standalone platform.
Downgrading to the free plan requires reaching out to support manually. Do this a few days before your next billing date.
#1 Fomo alternative with A/B testing built in
Show live signups, sales, and activity. Start free, paid from $16/month.How to choose the right Fomo alternative
The answer depends on why you’re leaving Fomo.
- If pricing is the main issue and you need predictable monthly costs, TrustPulse at $5/month or WiserNotify’s flat-tier pricing removes the notification volume uncertainty that makes Fomo unpredictable.
- If you want the fastest setup with instant social proof from Shopify orders, ProveSource’s auto-import gets you live in minutes. It’s the closest drop-in replacement for Fomo on Shopify.
- If you want more notification types beyond just activity popups, WiserNotify covers timers, banners, social proof displays, and announcements alongside the standard real-time notifications.
- If your site is on WordPress and you want a budget option, TrustPulse has a free plugin and paid plans from $5/month that work natively with WordPress and WooCommerce.
- If you need urgency cues alongside social proof, Nudgify at $9/month adds scarcity and urgency nudges that Fomo doesn’t offer. Provely covers similar ground at $17/month.
- If you need data from a custom source via webhook, Evidence is the only tool on this list built around that use case.
Getting started
For most teams leaving Fomo, the move comes down to WiserNotify or ProveSource. ProveSource is the fastest to get live on Shopify.
WiserNotify gives you more notification types, A/B testing, and predictable pricing as you scale.
If you’re still figuring out whether social proof notifications are worth it at all, SocialProofy at $3/month or TrustPulse’s free WordPress plugin let you test the concept without any real financial commitment.
Pick the one that matches your current situation. You can always move up as your needs change.
