Aero Tech Designs has been making cycling apparel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania since 2004. Founder Cathy Schnaubelt Rogers fell in love with cycling at twelve and never stopped riding. Her team builds bike shorts, jerseys, jackets and chamois pads for commuters, gravel riders, tourers and roadies in sizes from XS to 5XL. Twenty years of handcrafted production left them sitting on something unusual for a mid-size DTC brand: 15,000+ verified product reviews across 1,200+ SKUs. Riders clearly trusted the product. The open question was how to put that trust in front of the next shopper without the review widget getting in the way.

The challenge

A 20-year catalog of rider feedback, and no fast way to surface it.

Aero Tech's real strength is fit. Long-distance riders who figure out which chamois works for their saddle tend to come back every two years and buy again. That loyalty shows up in the review volume: 15,000+ reviews across 1,200+ products. But on a catalog this wide, each product page has to carry its own weight. A tourer looking at padded touring shorts doesn't want to read the entire brand history. They want to know what riders their size said after a 300-mile tour. The old setup showed reviews. It didn't surface them.

Review volume, scattered
15,000+ reviews sound great as a number. On a single product page with 40 reviews, shoppers still had to scroll and scan for what mattered.
Wide catalog, uneven coverage
With 1,200+ products, bestselling bike shorts carry hundreds of reviews while newer jackets are still building up. The widget had to look right in both cases.
BigCommerce constraints
The Cavio theme on Stencil needed a review app that dropped into product pages cleanly, without custom development every time a template changed.

The brand had the social proof. They needed it to do more work for them on the page.

The moment it clicked
Set up in 2 to 3 minutes. 15,000+ reviews live on product pages without touching a line of theme code.

For a team whose real work is cutting fabric and testing chamois pads, the appeal wasn't a long feature list. It was that the BigCommerce install took minutes, the review data carried over, and the widgets appeared on product pages with no hand-off to a developer.

Why they switched

Why Aero Tech Designs picked WiserReview

BigCommerce Stencil drop-in

Widgets sit natively in the Cavio theme. No custom template work, no ticket to the dev team every time a product page layout changes.

A Q&A widget for fit questions

Cycling apparel lives or dies on fit questions: chamois thickness, waistband rise, sleeve length for tall riders. The Q&A widget lets shoppers ask those questions right on the product page. Answers from the Aero Tech team and other riders become searchable content for the next shopper.

Handles 15,000+ reviews without slowing the page

A bestselling bike short with hundreds of reviews loads as fast as a new jersey with twelve. Pagination, sorting and search all live inside the widget.

Google Shopping review feed

Verified product ratings flow to Google Shopping, so shoppers searching for 'padded bike shorts' see the stars before they click through.

Migration

Going live on BigCommerce

The WiserReview install on BigCommerce is a single-app deploy from the Stencil side. Aero Tech connected the store, brought their review data across, and saw widgets live on product pages inside a few minutes.

How the switch happened
1
Step 1
Connect BigCommerce
WiserReview connected to the aerotechdesigns.com store. All 1,200+ products synced automatically via the BigCommerce API.
2
Step 2
Migrate from Judge.me
15,000+ existing reviews pulled out of Judge.me and imported into WiserReview with star ratings, dates and buyer identifiers intact. No manual data entry, no spreadsheet cleanup.
3
Step 3
Widgets live
Product-page review section, star rating under the title, and Q&A widget all appearing on PDPs inside the Cavio theme.

Two decades of feedback, live on the storefront without custom development. 2 to 3 minutes of actual configuration.

Automation

Review collection on autopilot

Every BigCommerce order triggers the review flow:

1
Order delivered
Rider receives their kit.
2
Review request
Automated email asks for a review once they've had a chance to ride in it.
3
Reminder
Follow-up sent if no response.
4
Published
Review goes live with a verified badge and adds to the product's review count.

No chasing riders. Reviews keep coming in as new orders ship.

Google Shopping review feed

15,000+ reviews, now powering Google search results

Aero Tech's verified product ratings feed into Google Shopping, so the star rating shows up in search results when a rider types 'padded bike shorts' or 'tall cycling jersey'. For a brand that's been building trust one rider at a time since 2004, those stars do the introduction before the click even happens.

The same reviews that sell the PDP now earn the click from Google search.

A real Aero Tech Designs review

True to size, comfortable shorts!

I've purchased several different brands of bike shorts and bibs, including some from Aero Tech Designs, but the gel shorts are among the most comfortable I own: No bunching, no saddle sores or irritation, these are great.
