How to embed an Instagram feed on your website (2026)
Two ways to embed an Instagram feed on your website in 2026: a free native embed for a single post, and the WiserReview UGC widget for a full live feed. Plus the account change you need, GDPR, and quick fixes.

You post on Instagram every week. Nice photos, happy customers, the occasional behind-the-scenes clip. Then someone lands on your website and sees none of it.
An embedded Instagram feed fixes that. It pulls your posts onto your site, so visitors see real, recent activity instead of a page that hasn’t changed since launch.
I’ve set these up for a lot of store owners. It got a bit trickier in the last year.
So here are the two ways that work now, from a free two-minute embed to a full auto-updating feed. One works from any account, the other needs a quick setup change I’ll flag when we get there.
The 2 ways to embed an Instagram feed
Which one is right depends on whether you want one post or a live feed. Here’s the short version before the steps.
| Method | Best for | Auto-updates? | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Native embed | One specific post or profile | No | Free |
| 2. WiserReview UGC widget | A full, live feed plus reviews | Yes | Free plan |
Most people want method two. But method one is free and takes two minutes, so let’s start there.
Method 1: Embed a single post or profile (free, no tools)

This is Instagram’s own built-in feature. It’s the fastest option, and it works from a personal account since it doesn’t touch the API. The catch is it’s a snapshot, not a live feed. The post you embed stays fixed.
Use it when you want to feature one specific post, like a customer shout-out inside a blog article, or a profile preview in your footer.
To embed a single post:
- Open the post on instagram.com in a browser, not the app.
- Click the three dots in the top right of the post.
- Click Embed, then Copy embed code.
- Paste that code anywhere your site takes custom HTML. In WordPress that’s a Custom HTML block. Shopify, Wix, and Squarespace all have an embed or code block for this.
That’s it. The post shows up styled the way Instagram wants, with a link back to your profile.
Two things to know. Only public accounts can be embedded, and these embeds set tracking cookies on your visitors. More on that below.
Method 2: Use the WiserReview UGC widget (feed plus reviews)
WiserReview has a UGC widget that pulls your Instagram feed into a shoppable gallery on your site. The difference from a plain feed is what sits next to it.
WiserReview runs your customer reviews too. So you can show an Instagram feed alongside real photo and video reviews, both from one dashboard, instead of running two separate tools.
Before you start, note one thing about Instagram itself. A live feed only works from a Professional account (Business or Creator), not a personal one. Personal accounts stopped working with Instagram’s API at the end of 2024.
If you’re still on a personal account, the switch is free and quick. In the Instagram app, open your profile, go to Account type and tools, then Switch to professional account.
After that, link it to a Facebook Page in Instagram’s settings.
Step 1: Create your account

Sign up for a free WiserReview account and log in. Already have one? Just log in and skip ahead.
Step 2: Connect Instagram
In the left sidebar, open the UGC tab. Under Marketing and social, click the blue Login with Facebook button and approve the popup.

Step 3: Select your Instagram account
Pick the Instagram account you want to show. It connects through the Facebook Page it’s linked to, and you’ll see a Connected status once it’s done.

Step 4: Customize the feed
Click Customize widget to open the editor. Set the layout, colors, and fonts on the left, and watch the live preview on the right.

Step 5: Install it
Click the green Install button and add the widget to your page. The feed updates on its own as you post to Instagram.
It works on WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, and custom stores, with a free plan to start.
Honest take: if all you want is a bare Instagram grid and nothing else, a standalone feed plugin will do the job too. WiserReview makes the most sense when you want the feed and your reviews working together.

This is the section other guides skip, and it can get you in trouble.
Instagram’s native embeds (method one) load content straight from Instagram’s servers, so they set tracking cookies on your visitors.
If you have visitors in the EU or UK, that’s a GDPR concern. It can even fire before someone accepts your cookie banner.
Two ways to handle it. First, a widget that loads your posts without Instagram’s own tracking cookies sidesteps the problem, since the cookies come from the native embed, not from a hosted feed.
Second, if you use native embeds, load them only after the visitor accepts cookies, or note them in your cookie policy. A small step that saves a real headache.
It’s a small thing, but if you sell to Europe it’s worth sorting out.
Where to place your Instagram feed

Where you put the feed matters as much as having one.
On the homepage it builds general trust. On a product page, a feed of customers using that product works harder, since it sits right where someone is deciding to buy.
These UGC examples are a good place to start for ideas.
A feed is one form of social proof for ecommerce, and it works even better next to your reviews. Our guide on UGC for ecommerce covers that.
Common problems and how to fix them

When a feed breaks, it’s almost always one of these.
1. The feed is blank or showing old posts
Nine times out of ten, it’s an account issue. If your feed ran on a personal account before Instagram’s API change at the end of 2024, it stopped pulling new posts.
Convert to a Professional account and reconnect through your tool. Your old layout usually survives.
2. “This account can’t be connected”
Your account is still personal, or the connection dropped. Switch to Business or Creator in the Instagram app, then reconnect. If it still fails, disconnect fully and connect again from scratch.
3. The feed looks broken on mobile
Usually a fixed width in the embed. Set the container to 100% width instead of a pixel value, and test on a real phone, not just a shrunk browser window.
4. The feed loads slowly
Too many posts, or heavy scripts. Show fewer posts, and turn on lazy loading if your tool offers it so images load only as someone scrolls to them.
5. The embed shows nothing at all
Check for mixed content. If your site is on HTTPS and the embed calls an HTTP resource, browsers block it. Also confirm the code pasted in full, since one missing tag breaks the whole thing.
The bottom line
Embedding an Instagram feed comes down to one question: one post or a live feed?
For a single post, use Instagram’s free native embed. For a live feed, use the WiserReview UGC widget, which shows your feed and your reviews together. Just remember your account has to be Business or Creator now.
Whichever you pick, put it where it helps someone decide to buy, and keep it current. That’s the difference between a feed that just sits there and one that helps you sell.
Turn browsers into buyers
Show an Instagram feed and verified customer reviews side by side, and give shoppers a reason to trust their purchase.
