Is Judge.me legit? What store owners should know

You’re about to install a review app, or you just got a message offering to pay you for reviews “through Judge.me.” Either way, you want to know one thing first: is this real?

Short version, the app is real and widely trusted. But there’s a separate scam using the Judge.me name, and the two get confused. Here’s how to tell them apart.

The two things people mean by “is Judge.me legit”

This search hides two different worries, and they have different answers. Sorting them out first saves a lot of confusion.

• “Is the review app safe to install?” Yes. This is the real Judge.me, a well-known Shopify app for collecting and showing customer reviews.
• “Someone contacted me about Judge.me, is that real?” Probably not. There’s an active scam where fraudsters borrow the Judge.me name to run a fake investment scheme. More on that below.

If you’re a store owner looking at the app, skip to the trust signals. If a stranger pointed you to a “Judge.me” money-making offer, read the scam section first.

Why the app itself is trustworthy

Judge.me has the kind of track record that’s hard to fake. The numbers and certifications line up with an established company, not a fly-by-night tool.

• 500,000+ merchants use it, and it has collected over 35 million reviews.
• 5.0 stars on the Shopify App Store across about 31,000 reviews, with 99.5 percent rated positive.
• SOC2 Type 2 certified, which is enterprise-grade security, unusual for an app this cheap.
• Built for Shopify badge and a 2025 Shopify Build Award, both vetted by Shopify itself.
• Official Google reviews partner, so ratings can show in Google Search and Shopping.

On the data side, your customers’ card details never touch Judge.me. Payments run through Shopify’s billing, and the app only collects what a review needs: a name, email, and the review itself.

How Judge.me keeps reviews honest

A review app is only as trustworthy as the reviews it shows. Judge.me has a few systems built to stop fake ones, which matters whether you’re a store owner or a shopper reading a badge.

Reviews tied to a fulfilled order get a “Verified” badge, and the app won’t let you fake that status. It checks against order data, not a button someone clicks.

It also runs public Transparency and Authenticity scores. Transparency tracks whether a store hides any reviews. Authenticity tracks how many are verified. A store burying its bad reviews takes a visible hit, so the scores are hard to game.

The “Verified” badge means a real customer with a fulfilled order left that review. It’s the single most useful trust signal to look for, on Judge.me or any review platform.

Is Judge.me worth it?

The research on reviews is hard to ignore:

• The first review matters most. Adding one review to a product lifts purchase likelihood by about 65 percent on average (Spiegel Research).
• A handful does the heavy lifting. At five reviews, a shopper is 270 percent more likely to buy than with none.
• Verified badges add trust. A verified-buyer label improves the odds of a purchase by around 15 percent.
• Photos beat text. Product pages with photo reviews see roughly a 9 to 14 percent conversion lift over text-only.

Judge.me’s free plan covers all four: unlimited reviews, verified badges, and photo reviews at no cost. So the real question isn’t whether it’s worth $15. It’s whether collecting reviews is worth your time, and the numbers say it is.

The Judge.me scam you should know about

Here’s the part most “is it legit” posts leave out. There’s a fraud using the Judge.me name that has nothing to do with the real company.

Scammers posing as “coaches” or “trainers” point victims to a fake site dressed up in Judge.me branding. They ask you to deposit money to “boost” product ratings, promising returns through a crypto wallet.

Small payouts come at first to build trust. Then the amounts climb until you can’t get your money back.

How to tell the real thing from the scam:

• Real Judge.me never asks you to deposit money to earn commissions. It’s a store app you install, not an investment.
• It doesn’t pay you to write or boost reviews. Anyone offering that is running a scam.
• Crypto wallets and “sets” of products to complete are not part of any real review service.
• Check the URL. The real app lives on judge.me and the Shopify App Store, nowhere else.

If you’ve hit one of these fake sites, Judge.me asks you to report it to your local police and email them directly. The company is actively working to take these sites down.

What Judge.me costs

Pricing is one place Judge.me wins people over, because it’s genuinely simple. Most review apps charge by order volume, so your bill climbs as you grow. Judge.me doesn’t.

That $15 is the most you’ll ever pay, at any size. There’s a 15-day trial of the Awesome plan, no order caps, and no yearly option, just the flat monthly price.

So which plan do you need? A quick rule:

• Stay on Free if you just want to collect and show reviews. The free plan is real, with unlimited reviews and photo reviews.
• Upgrade to Awesome when you want the branding gone, AI review summaries, Q&A on product pages, Google Shopping syndication, or full widget styling.

When Judge.me isn’t the right fit

Legit doesn’t always mean right for you. Judge.me is excellent if you’re on Shopify and mainly need reviews. It starts to strain in a few cases.

• You’re not on Shopify: As of 2026 the focus is squarely on Shopify, so WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, and custom builds get far less attention.
• Widget looks matter a lot: The default templates are basic, and heavy customizing often means support tickets, so if polished displays sell your product, that may frustrate you.
• You want reviews plus loyalty or referrals in one app: Judge.me focuses on reviews, so you’d bolt on other tools.

Judge.me is legit. It’s a well-run app with the certifications, ratings, and user base to back it up, and a strong pick for Shopify stores at a fair price.

The only caution isn’t about the app at all. It’s the scam riding on its name. If something asks you to deposit money or pays you to post reviews, that’s the fraud, not Judge.me.
