Loox vs Yotpo comparison cover

Both of these apps restructured in the last year. Loox made its Beginner plan free, quietly retired the $39.99 Scale plan, and moved its cheapest paid tier to $49.99.

Yotpo, meanwhile, shut down its Email and SMS products on December 31, 2025.

So most comparisons you’ll read, including the old version of this one, quote plans that no longer exist. Here’s the honest head-to-head on numbers verified against both pricing pages in August 2026.

I run WiserReview, and I’ve migrated stores off both tools. I’ll tell you where each one wins, and where a $9 tool covers the same job.

Quick verdict: Loox or Yotpo?

Pick Loox for photo-driven Shopify stores, Yotpo for a reviews and loyalty suite past $1M in revenue, and WiserReview for visual reviews on any platform from $9 a month.

Pick Loox if you sell on Shopify and customer photos close your sales. Its incentive design pulls the highest photo submission rates in the category, with referrals and upsell popups built in.

Pick Yotpo if you’re a DTC brand that wants reviews, UGC curation, and a loyalty program sharing one data layer. It’s the only suite here, priced accordingly on an order meter.

Pick WiserReview if you’re not Shopify-only, your customers live on WhatsApp, or you want photo and video reviews without order-based billing. It starts at $9 with a 7-day trial.

What changed for Loox and Yotpo in 2026?

Loox rebuilt its pricing ladder: Beginner went free, Scale disappeared, and the paid entry moved to $49.99. Yotpo exited email and SMS. Any comparison quoting the old plans is out of date.

Loox went free at the bottom and pricier in the middle

Loox’s Beginner plan now costs $0 for up to 100 orders a month, which makes it one of the few visual review apps with a real free tier.

The $39.99 Scale plan is gone. The cheapest paid plan is now Convert at $49.99, and it meters up in $50 blocks per 300 orders, so a 1,500-order month bills around $249.99.

Recent App Store reviews flag those usage fees as the main surprise, so run your order volume through the meter before upgrading. I keep the current tiers broken down in Loox pricing.

Loox also wired reviews into Shopify’s Shop App this year, syncing ratings both ways automatically.

Yotpo shut down Email and SMS

In an August 2025 open letter, Yotpo’s CEO announced the company would sunset its native Email and SMS products to focus on Reviews and Loyalty. The shutdown completed December 31, 2025, with Attentive and Omnisend as official migration partners.

What it means for this comparison

The price gap flipped shape. Loox is now free at the bottom but $49.99 at the first paid step, while Yotpo’s Starter begins at $15 and climbs with orders. The cheap seat depends entirely on your order volume.

Loox overview: the photo review specialist

Loox homepage, a product review app built around collecting customer photos and displaying them in galleries

Loox is a visual review app built exclusively for Shopify, running on 130,000+ stores with a 4.9 rating from 8,000+ merchants on the App Store.

The whole product optimizes one metric: photo submissions. Discounts tie to uploading a photo, not just writing text, which is why Loox stores report submission rates around 7% against a 2 to 3% category norm.

Customer photo reviews collected with Loox

What it does well: beyond collection, Loox bundles a referral program, post-purchase upsell popups, and Loox Studio, which turns customer photos into social content. Those are revenue tools most review apps don’t ship at any price.

Where it stops: Shopify is the whole world. There’s no WooCommerce, Wix, or BigCommerce version, and email is the only collection channel. Video reviews and AI features sit on paid plans, and the Convert meter climbs fast past 300 orders.

Ideal fit: fashion, beauty, and lifestyle stores on Shopify where the customer photo is the trust signal that closes the sale.

Yotpo overview: the reviews and loyalty suite

Yotpo homepage, an enterprise reviews platform that bundles reviews with loyalty, referrals and SMS marketing

Yotpo launched in 2011 and grew into the biggest reviews platform in DTC ecommerce. It claims 400 million+ reviews collected and 25,000+ loyalty programs, with customers like Brooklinen, Steve Madden, Princess Polly, and Pandora.

It holds a 4.3 on G2 and a 4.7 on the Shopify App Store.

Yotpo review display

What it does well: the connected suite. Review activity feeds loyalty offers, loyalty events feed Klaviyo segments, and Instagram UGC flows into shoppable galleries. With 170+ integrations, it’s the deepest ecosystem in this comparison.

Where it stops: the meter. Pricing scales with order volume, tiers bump automatically, and overage bills at $0.20 per order.

On Capterra, roughly 42% of negative reviews cite pricing, and the suite only earns its cost when loyalty runs alongside reviews.

My full Yotpo pricing breakdown covers what stores pay at each tier.

Ideal fit: Shopify brands past $1M using reviews, UGC, and loyalty together as one retention system.

WiserReview overview: visual reviews on any platform

WiserReview homepage, a collect-first Editorify alternative

WiserReview is my product, so judge this section accordingly. It exists for the store that likes what Loox does but isn’t Shopify-only, or likes Yotpo’s polish but not the meter.

What it does: collects reviews by email, SMS, WhatsApp, and QR code, displays them in 18+ widgets with photo and video on every plan, and syncs rich snippets plus Google seller ratings.

WiserReview video review request flow

It runs on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Magento, PrestaShop, and headless builds. The side-by-side specs live on WiserReview vs Loox and WiserReview vs Yotpo.

Billing runs on review requests sent (1,000 to 5,000 a month), not orders, so a record sales month doesn’t change the bill. WhatsApp collection is the channel neither competitor offers.

Where it stops: there’s no free plan, just a 7-day trial before $9 a month. There’s no built-in upsell popup like Loox’s, and no loyalty engine beyond a $6 referral add-on.

Ideal fit: stores on any platform under roughly $5M that want photo and video reviews plus Google stars at software prices.

The core tradeoff: photo volume, suite depth, or platform freedom

Loox maximizes one number on one platform. Yotpo connects three products on a meter. WiserReview covers the review layer everywhere else, for less.

Loox’s bet is that photo volume is the conversion lever, and for visual categories on Shopify it usually is. The cost is lock-in: leave Shopify, or grow past the Convert blocks, and the math changes.

Yotpo’s bet is the compounding suite, and it holds when three products run together. Reviews alone at Yotpo prices rarely beat the specialists.

Six questions that settle it:

  1. Are you Shopify-only, and staying that way? No rules out Loox immediately.
  2. Do customer photos close your sales? Yes favors Loox, with WiserReview covering visual reviews on every plan elsewhere.
  3. Do you want loyalty from the same vendor? Yes means Yotpo, and only Yotpo.
  4. What does your order volume do to the bill? Model Loox’s $50 blocks and Yotpo’s tier bumps; WiserReview’s bill ignores orders entirely.
  5. Do your customers live on WhatsApp? Only WiserReview collects there.
  6. Need a real free plan? Loox and Yotpo both have one now; WiserReview starts at $9 after a 7-day trial.

Pricing compared: the real numbers

Loox runs free to $299.99, metered in $50 blocks. Yotpo runs free to $379+ on its own meter. WiserReview runs $9 to $31 by review requests. Checked against live pricing pages in August 2026.

Loox pricing

Plan Cost What you get
Beginner $0/mo 100 orders/mo (500 total), photo reviews, Loox branding
Convert $49.99/mo 300 orders base, then +$50 per 300; video, AI, Google Shopping, referrals
Unlimited $299.99/mo Unlimited orders, all features, dedicated support

The Convert meter is the number to model. At 900 orders a month you pay $149.99, at 1,500 it’s $249.99, and at 3,000 you’ve hit $499.99, past the Unlimited price. Paid plans carry a 14-day trial.

Yotpo pricing

Plan Cost What you get
Free $0 About 50 orders/month, basic review collection and widgets
Starter (Reviews) $15 to $129/mo Scales with order volume, core widgets, rich snippets
Pro (Reviews) $169 to $379/mo Photo and video UGC, customization, syndication
Loyalty add-on $199 to $599/mo Points, referrals, VIP tiers, billed separately
Enterprise Custom High volume, dedicated support, custom contracts

Same two meters as always: tiers bump automatically with order volume, and overage bills at $0.20 per order. Reviews plus Loyalty realistically starts around $368 a month at the Pro tier.

WiserReview pricing

Plan Cost What’s included
Starter $9/mo Reviews, photo and video, widgets, rich snippets, seller ratings
Pro $19/mo Unlimited reviews, more video, testimonial forms, team seats
Pro + AI $31/mo AI replies, sentiment, summaries, and translation on top of Pro

Tiers are billed by review requests sent (1,000, 3,000, or 5,000 a month), not orders. Yearly billing takes 3 months off, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

The worked example that decides most stores: at 1,500 orders a month, Loox Convert bills about $249.99, and Yotpo has climbed into Pro territory. WiserReview stays at $9 to $31 because the meter runs on requests you choose to send.

Feature comparison beyond pricing

Photo and video UGC

Loox’s photo-incentive emails produce the most visual review libraries in the category. Yotpo pulls Instagram UGC into shoppable galleries and coaches better text with AI prompts. WiserReview includes photo and video on every plan, including the $9 tier.

Winner: Loox for raw photo volume, Yotpo for UGC curation depth.

Collection channels

Loox collects by email only. Yotpo collects by email with AI-timed sends, its separate SMS product now gone. WiserReview collects by email, SMS, WhatsApp, and QR on every plan.

Winner: WiserReview, and it’s not close.

Revenue tools beyond reviews

Loox ships referrals and post-purchase upsell popups natively. Yotpo’s loyalty product covers points, VIP tiers, and subscriptions as a separate $199+ module. WiserReview keeps a $6 referral add-on and stops there.

Winner: Loox for built-in extras, Yotpo for a full loyalty program.

Google stars

Types of Google review widgets

All three feed Google. Loox covers rich snippets and Google Shopping from Convert. Yotpo adds Seller Ratings through its Google partnership on paid tiers. WiserReview includes rich snippets and seller ratings from $9.

Winner: tie on capability, WiserReview on price.

Moderation and management

WiserReview review management dashboard

Loox keeps moderation simple and fast. Yotpo moderates at scale with AI-suggested, brand-voice replies. WiserReview handles approval, replies, and pinning in one dashboard, with AI replies on the $31 tier.

Winner: Yotpo for scale, Loox for speed.

Platform lock and exit

Loox is Shopify-only by design, so replatforming means a migration. Yotpo runs month-to-month at entry tiers with annual commitments up top. WiserReview is month-to-month and moves platforms with you.

Winner: WiserReview, then Yotpo.

Who should pick which app?

Loox fits photo-led Shopify stores, Yotpo fits suite buyers past $1M, and WiserReview fits everyone the other two lock out.

Loox is right for

  1. Shopify stores in visual categories. Fashion, beauty, and home goods where the customer photo is the sale.
  2. Stores under 300 orders a month. The free Beginner tier and the Convert base price stay cheap until the $50 blocks start stacking.
  3. Brands that want referrals and upsells without another app. Both ship natively.

Yotpo is right for

  1. DTC brands running reviews, UGC, and loyalty together. The shared data layer is the product.
  2. Brands with heavy Google Shopping spend. Seller Ratings on paid tiers lift paid CTR across campaigns.
  3. Teams that need 170+ integrations. Klaviyo, Gorgias, Zendesk, and the rest of the stack connect natively.

WiserReview is right for

  1. Stores on WooCommerce, Wix, BigCommerce, or anything not Shopify. Loox can’t follow you there.
  2. Brands collecting over WhatsApp. The highest-converting request channel in Europe, South Asia, and Latin America, offered by neither competitor.
  3. Stores tired of order-metered bills. $9 to $31 by review requests, whatever your sales curve does.

One review tool that moves platforms with you

18+ widgets, WhatsApp collection, and Google stars from $9 a month, billed by requests, not orders.

Wrap up: which one should you pick?

Two questions decide it. Are you Shopify-only, and is the customer photo your conversion lever?

Yes to both: Loox, and model the Convert blocks before you scale. Building a reviews-loyalty-UGC system past $1M: Yotpo. Any other platform, WhatsApp customers, or predictable billing: WiserReview from $9.

The expensive mistake in 2026 is deciding on last year’s prices. Loox’s Scale plan is gone, its Beginner tier is free, and Yotpo without email and SMS is a narrower suite than the one most comparisons still describe.

Check the live pricing pages, run your order volume through both meters, then pick.
