Wix product review schema: How to show review stars on Google
Add Product Review Schema to your Wix store using WiserReview or manual JSON-LD to become eligible for Google review stars and rich snippets.

Wix Product Review Schema assists Google in understanding the ratings and reviews of your products. When properly used, your products’ webpages will be able to qualify for displaying star ratings and reviews in the Google search result pages.
The star ratings will help in making your listings stand out, gain credibility before even clicking, and boost your click-through rate.
While Google doesn’t guarantee review stars, using a valid Wix review schema is a key requirement for becoming eligible.
In this guide, you’ll learn how Wix Product Review Schema works, the 2 easiest methods to add it to your Wix store, how to test your schema, and best practices.
What is Wix product review schema?
Schema for Wix Product Review is structured data, in particular, JSON-LD format that informs Google that the product pages on your e-commerce website include ratings and star reviews from customers.
Using standardized code, JSON-LD, you inform Google about such things as your product’s rating, number of reviews, and reviews of customers.
And if Google is able to read this information accurately, then your product pages become eligible for displaying review stars, ratings, and review counts in the search results.
A Wix Product Review Schema typically includes information such as:
- Product name
- Average star rating (AggregateRating)
- Total number of reviews
- Individual customer reviews (if available)
- Product price and availability (when combined with Wix Product schema)
However, using the Product Review Schema will not help you in ranking optimization; it just allows Google to comprehend your product pages, which can increase their appeal in search results.

Start Free →Does Wix add product review Schema automatically?
Yes, but only in certain cases. Wix automatically adds Product schema to native Wix Stores product pages. However, Wix does not clearly state that every product page automatically includes Review or AggregateRating schema.
In case you are implementing Wix Stores along with the Wix Reviews app, and your products have customer reviews on their pages, then Google will be able to use the structured data for review stars.
But this is subject to how your online store and the reviews are configured, hence you need to check the schema on each product page.
Wix automatically adds preset structured data to these native page types:
- Wix Stores product pages
- Wix Blog posts
- Wix Events pages, and
- Wix Bookings service pages.
Wix further explains that the preset markups may be previewed, modified, or even turned into customized JSON-LD in the SEO settings, and the JSON-LD may be manually added in the advanced SEO setting under Structured Data Markup.
But if you are using third party reviews apps, custom CMS product pages or even multi-vendor marketplaces then Wix’s built-in schema will most likely not include Product Reviews or AggregateRating.
In such instances, you will have to use custom JSON-LD or configure your review application to provide the necessary schema.
How to add product review schema in Wix
Wix offers two different approaches to implement Product Review Schema Markup on the website. You could either use a review app such as WiserReview for generating schema or manually insert the JSON-LD script for better control over your structured data.
Method 1: Use a Review App (WiserReview)
Using a dedicated review app like WiserReview is the easiest way to add a review schema to your Wix site. You do not need to write any custom code.
Step 1: Create “WiserReview” account

Go to the “WiserReview” app, Sign up and create your account. Complete the onboarding, and create your workspace.
Step 2: Configure the widget

Inside the WiserReview dashboard, go to Widgets → Product Review Widget → Configure.
Step 3: Enable the Schema Toggle in WiserReview

- Scroll down to Schema and SEO, Look for the option labeled “Enable Rich Snippets Schema”.
- Toggle this setting to ON / Enabled.
If your Product Review widget hasn’t been installed yet, click Install and add it to your Wix product page.
Once enabled, WiserReview automatically generates Product Review schema (JSON-LD) for your product pages, making them eligible for Google Product Review rich snippets.

Start Free →Method 2: Add JSON-LD manually (advanced)
If you collect reviews via an external platform or want complete control over your Wix structured data, you can add JSON-LD code manually. This method requires a page-by-page setup to ensure Google matches your written reviews with the correct product metadata.
Step 1: Decide whether you are editing one product or replacing Wix’s preset product schema
If you only need to add custom markup to one specific product, Wix lets you do that from the individual product’s SEO settings.

If you want a cleaner site-wide setup for native Wix Stores product pages, go to SEO & GEO → SEO Settings → Products → Structured data markup, where Wix lets you preview the preset markup, convert it to a custom markup, and exclude the preset version automatically.
Step 2: Prepare valid JSON-LD that matches the visible page content
Wix only accepts JSON-LD, and the markup must stay under 7,000 characters.
Google requires that the review or aggregate rating you mark up be clearly visible on the page, tied to a specific product, and not pulled in as an aggregate from other websites.
Step 3: Add the markup in the correct Wix location

For a single product page, use this path: Dashboard → Products → select product → Edit SEO Settings → Advanced → Structured data markup → + Add New Markup → paste JSON-LD → Apply.
That is the documented Wix Stores product flow.

For a better native Wix Stores setup, use: Dashboard → SEO & GEO → SEO Settings → Products → Edit next to Structured data markup.
From there, you can preview the preset markup, switch or convert it to a custom markup, and add variables. If you use Convert to custom markup, Wix automatically excludes the preset version.
Step 4: Test the page before and after it is live
Google recommends validating your code in the Rich Results Test, then checking the live page with URL Inspection in Search Console.
After Google crawls the page, monitor the relevant rich result report in Search Console for errors or invalid items.
Which method should you use?
Choosing the right approach depends entirely on your technical comfort level and the tools you use to collect customer reviews. Use this quick comparison table to determine the best method for your Wix website.
| Feature/Metric | Method 1: Use a Review App (WiserReview) | Method 2: Add JSON-LD Manually (Advanced) |
|---|---|---|
| Best For | Store owners using standard review apps who want an automated solution. | Sites with custom product pages or external review collection platforms. |
| Technical Difficulty | Low (No coding or code generation required). | High (Requires basic knowledge of JSON-LD syntax). |
| Setup Time | Quick one-time installation (under 5 minutes). | Manual page-by-page setup (varies by inventory size). |
| Data Updates | Automatic (Stars update instantly as new reviews roll in). | Manual (You must edit the code when your ratings change). |
| Risk of Error | Minimal (The app code is pre-validated by developers). | Moderate (Missing brackets or typos will break the schema). |

Start Free →How to test your product review schema
Once you have installed your schema using either WiserReview or the Manual JSON-LD method, you must test it. Google will not display review stars in search results if the backend code contains syntax errors or missing fields.
Step 1: Open Google’s official testing tool
Google provides a free, definitive tool specifically for verifying structured data markup.
- Open your web browser and go to the Google Rich Results Test.
- Ensure the tool is set to the URL input tab (or use the Code tab if you want to test a raw manual block before publishing it).
Step 2: Run the analysis

- Copy the exact live URL of the Wix product page you want to test.
- Paste the URL into the search bar of the tool.
- Click the Test URL button.
- Wait 10 to 30 seconds while Google fetches your live page code and processes the structural markup.
Step 3: Analyze your results
The tool will display a clear breakdown of all structured data found on your Wix page. Look for these specific indicators:
- Green Checkmark (Eligible for Rich Results): This means your setup is completely correct. Google can read the code, and your review stars are officially eligible to appear in live search results.
- Detected Items: Look for a row labeled “Merchant listings” or “Product snippets”. Click to expand it, and verify that the aggregateRating and review fields show active values matching your real site stats.
- Red Errors (Invalid): A red error means your schema is completely broken. This usually happens in Method 2 if you accidentally omit a comma or a closing bracket (}) in your JSON-LD block. Google will ignore the schema entirely until this is fixed.
- Yellow Warnings (Optional Fields): These are recommendations, not dealbreakers. For example, if you see a warning saying “Missing field ‘sku'”, your review stars will still show up on Google, but adding the missing data will make your listing look cleaner.
Why your Wix product pages aren’t showing review stars
Even if your schema passes Google’s testing tools, your review stars might still fail to appear on live search result pages. Here are the most common reasons your Wix product pages are not showing review stars and fixes:
1. Google hasn’t re-crawled your page yet
Google does not update its search index instantly. If you added your schema or installed WiserReview recently, search bots likely have not visited your updated page.
Fix: Log into Google Search Console, paste your product URL into the top search bar, and click Request Indexing to force Google to re-crawl your updated code.
2. You fall into the “Double schema” trap
Having multiple, conflicting pieces of Wix product schema on a single page confuses search engines. If you manually added a custom JSON-LD block while the native Wix Stores product preset was still active, Google may detect duplicate product nodes and reject both.
Fix: Go to your site-wide SEO Settings dashboard in Wix. Select the Products page type and customize the default template presets to ensure they do not conflict with or duplicate your third-party or manual code.
3. Your schema code violates Google’s quality guidelines
Google checks your backend schema numbers against the actual text visible to human visitors. If your code lists a ratingValue of 4.9 with 150 reviews, but your live product page text shows zero written reviews, Google will flag it as manipulative markup and strip your stars.
Fix: Ensure your JSON-LD numbers perfectly match the visible text on your screen. If you use WiserReview, make sure the app’s visual review widget is actively loaded and visible on your desktop and mobile page layouts.
4. Missing required product metadata
Google requires review stars (aggregateRating) to be explicitly attached to a valid, clearly defined product.
If your manual schema code is missing fundamental e-commerce properties like offers (price), priceCurrency, or availability (stock status), Google will discard the review data as incomplete.
Fix: Expand the results in the Google Rich Results Test tool. Check for red critical errors, and make sure all core commercial fields are fully filled out alongside your review details.
5. Your website is new or lacks authority
Wix rich snippets are a privilege, not a guarantee. Google’s documentation explicitly states that displaying review stars depends entirely on its algorithm’s trust in your site’s overall quality and authority.
New sites with minimal traffic or poor overall SEO health are often denied rich snippets initially.
Fix: Focus on core SEO foundational tasks. Build high-quality backlinks, improve your site loading speeds on mobile, write unique product descriptions, and consistently collect genuine user reviews.
Best practices for Wix product review schema
Adding Product Review Schema is only the first step. To maximize your chances of earning Google review stars, make sure your structured data follows Google’s guidelines and accurately reflects the content on your product pages.
Use authentic customer reviews: Only mark up genuine reviews collected from real customers. Fake or misleading ratings can violate Google’s guidelines.
Match your schema with visible content: The ratings and reviews in your Product Review Schema should also be clearly visible on the same product page.
Avoid duplicate Product schema: Native Wix Stores pages already include Product schema. If you add custom JSON-LD, customize or replace the existing markup instead of creating duplicate Product schema.
Keep your review data updated: Your average rating, review count, price, and availability should always match the information displayed on the page.
Validate your schema before publishing: Test every product page using Google’s Rich Results Test and fix any errors before Google crawls your site.
Include all required Product and AggregateRating properties: Make sure your schema contains essential fields like the product name, rating value, review count, and offers to improve your eligibility for rich results.
Simplify Wix Review Schema
Skip manual JSON-LD and let WiserReview handle Product Review Schema, review collection, and display automatically.
Start Free →Wrap up
Wix makes it easy to add Product Schema to your store, but Product Review Schema often requires a little extra attention to ensure Google can understand and display your ratings correctly.
Whether you use a review app like WiserReview or add JSON-LD manually, the key is to follow Google’s structured data guidelines and validate your markup before publishing.
With the right setup, your Wix product pages become eligible for review stars, helping you build trust and attract more clicks from search results.
