AnimeBape is an apparel brand that sells anime-themed clothing and accessories inspired by major series and iconic characters, including One Piece, Demon Slayer, Naruto and Attack on Titan. The product line covers T-shirts, hoodies, Hawaiian shirts, varsity jackets, Christmas sweaters, sweatshirts, themed shoes and car accessories, across adult and kids sizing. The store runs on WooCommerce with 55,709+ live products once every character collection, print variant and size is counted, by far the largest catalog in the WiserReview case study library. A catalog that wide only works if every system around it scales the same way: the team needed a review platform that could cover every SKU from day one, feed ratings into Klaviyo campaigns, and send verified stars to Google Shopping without a single engineer keeping a home-built reviews system alive.

The challenge

A 55,709+ product catalog and an in-house reviews system that was no longer worth maintaining.

Animebape had built their own reviews module inside the store. It worked, but it came with the usual homegrown tax. Every widget tweak, every new email trigger, every Google Shopping feed change needed engineering time that should have been spent on the storefront itself. On top of that, the catalog was not going to get smaller. 55,709+ products meant the review system had to keep up with constant product sync, review collection at volume, and display performance on every PDP. A third-party review app that could not handle that scale was not going to survive the first catalog refresh.

A 55,709+ product catalog
Any review tool that cannot scale across 55,000+ SKUs is a non-starter. Every PDP needs its own review section, every new product has to sync, and none of it can slow the store down.
A custom in-house reviews system to maintain
The existing reviews module was built internally. It worked, but it sat on engineering time that should have gone to the storefront, not widget bug fixes and manual Google Shopping feed tweaks.
Review emails living outside Klaviyo
Abandoned cart, welcome series and flows already ran in Klaviyo. Review request emails were the outlier, sitting in a separate tool. Customer data was split across two systems that did not talk to each other.

Animebape did not need another standalone review app. They needed one that scaled across 55,709+ products, replaced the in-house build, and plugged straight into the Klaviyo stack they were already running.

The moment it clicked
55,709+ products synced, 1,500+ reviews live, and review requests firing through Klaviyo. Setup done in a day.

The Animebape team did not want a migration weekend and did not want another email tool to manage. WiserReview connected to WooCommerce, synced the full 55,709+ catalog, imported the existing 1,500+ reviews from the in-house build, and pushed review request events into Klaviyo so every new order triggered a flow inside the same email stack the team already used for everything else.

Why they switched

Why Animebape picked WiserReview

Handles a 55,709+ product catalog

Review widgets drop onto every SKU, from bestselling anime tees to niche collectibles with a handful of orders. Products sync automatically from WooCommerce, with review section, star rating and Wall of Love widgets running at scale across the full catalog.

Klaviyo integration for review requests

Review request and reminder events push straight into Klaviyo. Review emails now live in the same flow builder as abandoned cart, welcome series and post-purchase sequences, with customer data unified across all of it.

Google Shopping review feed

Verified product ratings flow to Google Shopping so stars show up in search results when shoppers look for an anime hoodie or a specific character tee. The feed runs on its own, no manual exports.

Retires the in-house reviews build

The custom reviews module is out of the stack. No more engineering time on widget bug fixes, feed tweaks or storage of review data. WiserReview owns the collection, display and distribution end to end.

Migration

Migration from a custom in-house reviews system

Animebape was not moving off a named competitor like Judge.me or Yotpo. They had built their own reviews module inside the store. WiserReview replaced it, kept the 1,500+ existing reviews intact, and put widgets on product pages without a theme rebuild.

How the switch happened
1
Step 1
Connect WooCommerce
WiserReview linked to animebape.com. All 55,709+ products synced automatically via the WooCommerce API. No manual product uploads, no CSV imports for the catalog.
2
Step 2
Import reviews from the in-house system
1,500+ existing reviews pulled out of the custom-built reviews module and imported into WiserReview with star ratings, review text, dates and reviewer details intact.
3
Step 3
Widgets live, Klaviyo wired in
Product Reviews widget, Star Rating widget and Wall of Love live on the storefront. Klaviyo integration turned on so review request events fire from the WiserReview side into Klaviyo flows.

The in-house reviews build is retired. 1,500+ reviews kept their history, 55,709+ products carry ratings, and the team stopped maintaining a homegrown stack.

Widgets in action

Review widgets on WooCommerce

WiserReview widgets sit across the Animebape storefront, from product pages to a full Wall of Love feed that pulls verified reviews from across the 55,709+ catalog.

Star rating under the product title with the total review count, and the full Product Reviews widget below. Works the same on a bestselling anime tee with hundreds of orders and a deep-cut variant with ten.

Automation

Review requests firing through Klaviyo

Every WooCommerce order triggers a review flow, but the emails go out through Klaviyo, not a second marketing tool.

1
Order placed
WooCommerce sends the order to WiserReview.
2
Event pushed to Klaviyo
WiserReview fires a review-request event into Klaviyo with the order and product details attached.
3
Klaviyo flow sends the email
The review request, reminder and any follow-ups run inside the same Klaviyo account as welcome series and abandoned cart, with full branding and segmentation.
4
Review published
Submitted review goes live on the exact product purchased with a verified-buyer badge and rolls into the product's star rating.

Review emails stopped living in a separate tool. Animebape now runs review requests, reminders and post-purchase flows from the same Klaviyo dashboard as every other customer email.

Google Shopping review feed

55,709 products, ratings powering search results

Animebape's verified product ratings feed into Google Shopping so stars show up in search results when a shopper types an anime title, a character name or a product type like 'anime hoodie'. On a 55,709+ product catalog, that feed runs on its own. No manual exports, no CSV uploads every time the catalog refreshes.

The same reviews powering PDPs now earn the click from Google search, across every product in the catalog.

Anime is more than just entertainment for us, it is a global culture that connects millions of fans. Running 55,000+ products on WooCommerce meant our in-house reviews system was taking engineering time that should have gone to design. WiserReview dropped onto the store in a day, fired review requests through our existing Klaviyo flows, and pushed verified star ratings straight to Google Shopping, so our team can keep the focus on the clothing itself.

Frequently asked questions

About this case study

What platform does Animebape use?

Animebape runs on WordPress with WooCommerce. The store sells anime merchandise across a catalog of 55,709+ live products.

How many products are in the Animebape catalog?

Over 55,709 products. This is by far the largest catalog in the WiserReview case study library, roughly 8x the size of the next largest (Protein Pick and Mix at 7,000+ SKUs) and more than 10x Melon Optics' 4,000+ configurable SKU catalog.

Can WiserReview handle a catalog of 55,000+ products?

Yes. Products sync automatically from WooCommerce via the API, and review widgets appear on every PDP, whether it has hundreds of reviews or none yet. Display performance stays the same across the full catalog, which is why Animebape picked WiserReview over continuing to maintain their own in-house build.

How does WiserReview integrate with Klaviyo?

WiserReview pushes review request and reminder events into Klaviyo with the order and product details attached. Review emails are then built and sent inside Klaviyo flows, alongside abandoned cart, welcome series and post-purchase sequences. For Animebape, this unified review email into the same Klaviyo stack they already used for the rest of their customer email.

Does WiserReview send product ratings to Google Shopping?

Yes. Animebape's verified product ratings flow to Google Shopping so star ratings show up in search results. The feed runs automatically across all 55,709+ products in the catalog, with no manual exports.

What review tool did Animebape use before WiserReview?

A custom in-house reviews system, built inside the store. It was not a named third-party like Judge.me, Yotpo or Stamped. Animebape moved off the homegrown build to stop spending engineering time on widget bug fixes, Google Shopping feed tweaks and email triggers.

How long did it take to set up WiserReview on Animebape's WooCommerce store?

a day of configuration. WiserReview connected to the WooCommerce store, 55,709+ products synced automatically via the API, the 1,500+ existing reviews from the in-house system were imported with ratings and dates intact, and widgets went live on product pages.

Which WiserReview widgets are live on Animebape?

Three: the Product Reviews widget on every PDP, the Star Rating widget on product tiles and PDPs, and a Wall of Love page aggregating verified reviews from across the 55,709+ product catalog.

Running a large-catalog store on WooCommerce with Klaviyo?

Install WiserReview in a day. Cover every SKU, fire review requests through Klaviyo, and send verified ratings to Google Shopping.
