Forage Plus is a UK horse feed and supplement brand based in Mold, Flintshire, built around the Forage Focused approach of matching feed balancers and supplements to the common deficiencies in UK grass and hay. The catalog spans feed balancers, hoof and skin bundles, digestive bundles, laminitis-prone bundles, muscle performance kits and young horse bundles. The store runs on WooCommerce in GBP with free UK mainland shipping over £80 and international delivery. 1,200+ verified product reviews now sit behind the catalog, feeding Google, Facebook and Klaviyo from one source.

The challenge

A homegrown reviews build inside WooCommerce. No native path into Google, Facebook or Klaviyo.

Forage Plus had built their own in-house reviews module on top of WooCommerce. It collected reviews, but the stack had no clean path out. Google Shopping did not pick up consistent star ratings. Facebook product tiles showed no review signal. Klaviyo already ran the brand's email flows, but review requests lived outside it. On the storefront itself, the widget set was thin and left most of the proof work to the basic Judge-style block on the PDP. For a brand selling £30+ feed balancers to UK horse owners who research before they buy, the verified reviews already collected were doing less work than they should.

Custom in-house reviews build to maintain
A homegrown module inside WooCommerce collected reviews, but every widget fix, feed update and trigger tweak cost internal engineering time. There was no roadmap, only a backlog.
No clean feed into Google, Facebook or Klaviyo
Star ratings were not reaching Google Shopping consistently, Facebook product tiles showed no review signal, and Klaviyo had no access to review events. Three big surfaces running blind to 1,200+ verified reviews already on the site.
Thin widget set on the PDP
The in-house build only surfaced a basic star rating and review block on the product page. No carousel. No contextual nudge at the add-to-cart moment. Verified feedback sat at the bottom of the PDP and nowhere else.

Forage Plus needed one review platform that dropped onto WooCommerce, retired the in-house build, and wired Google, Facebook and Klaviyo into the same flow.

The moment it clicked
1,200+ reviews carried across from the in-house build, Google, Facebook and Klaviyo wired in, Nudges on the PDP. Setup done in a day.

The team wanted the homegrown reviews module out of the stack and verified ratings on every surface a buyer actually sees the product. WiserReview dropped onto WooCommerce, imported the 1,200+ existing reviews with ratings and dates intact, opened feeds to Google, Facebook and Klaviyo from the same account, and added Nudges as a contextual review prompt on the product page.

Why they switched

Why Forage Plus picked WiserReview

Nudges widget for contextual trust

Nudges are lightweight, contextual review prompts that surface a recent verified review at the right moment on a PDP. On a £30+ feed balancer with a research-heavy buyer, a five-star nudge at the add-to-cart moment closes orders the static review block at the bottom of the page would miss.

Google, Facebook and Klaviyo in one account

Verified product ratings flow to Google, Facebook product tiles and Klaviyo flows from one source. No separate exports, no duplicate collection, no manual CSV uploads when new products are added to the catalog.

Retires the in-house reviews build

The custom WooCommerce reviews module is out of the stack. No more engineering time on widget fixes, feed tweaks or integration patchwork. WiserReview took over collection, display and the outbound feeds in one session.

WooCommerce drop-in, no theme rebuild

The WiserReview pixel sat directly on the existing WordPress and WooCommerce stack. Star ratings under product titles and the full review block on every PDP went live on the existing Shoptimizer theme with no custom development.

Migration

Migration from a custom in-house reviews system

Forage Plus was not switching off a named competitor. They had built their own reviews module inside WooCommerce. WiserReview replaced it, carried the 1,200+ existing reviews across, and wired Google, Facebook and Klaviyo in the same flow.

How the switch happened
1
Step 1
Connect WooCommerce, import reviews
WiserReview linked to forageplus.co.uk. Products synced automatically via the WooCommerce API, and 1,200+ existing reviews pulled out of the in-house module with star ratings, written feedback, dates and reviewer details intact.
2
Step 2
Wire Google, Facebook and Klaviyo
The Google review feed switched on for the full catalog. Facebook connected so product tiles and UGC share paths work from the same account. Klaviyo wired in so review request and reminder events fire through the same email flows that run abandoned cart and welcome series.
3
Step 3
Place four widgets including Nudges
Product Reviews, Star Rating, Carousel and Nudges placed across the storefront, running on the existing Shoptimizer theme with no custom development.

The in-house build is retired. 1,200+ reviews kept their history, and the same verified ratings now reach Google, Facebook and Klaviyo.

Widgets in action

Review widgets on WooCommerce

Forage Plus runs four WiserReview widgets on WooCommerce: star ratings and the full review block on every PDP, a carousel of recent reviews, and Nudges surfacing real feedback at the right moment.

Star rating with total review count under the product title, and the full Product Reviews widget below. Works the same on a feed balancer, a hoof and skin bundle, a digestive bundle or a young horse kit.

Everything used on this store:
  • Product Reviews widget on every PDP with filter and sort controls
  • Star Rating widget with total review count under every product title
  • Star ratings on catalog and category grids
  • Carousel of recent verified reviews on the homepage
  • Nudges widget surfacing contextual reviews on the PDP
  • Review form with star rating, written feedback and photo uploads on every PDP
  • Verified-buyer badges on every confirmed-purchase review
  • Reviews carried across the full WooCommerce catalog
  • Native WooCommerce install on the existing Shoptimizer theme, no custom development
  • Rich-snippet schema on product pages for Google search results
Automation

Review collection on autopilot

Every WooCommerce order triggers the review flow, review requests fire through Klaviyo, and verified ratings feed Google and Facebook from the same pool.

1
Order placed
Customer orders a Forage Plus feed balancer, bundle or supplement from the WooCommerce store, shipped from Mold, Wales.
2
Event pushed to Klaviyo
WiserReview pushes a review request event into Klaviyo with the exact order, product and buyer context. Review emails run inside the same Klaviyo flows as abandoned cart and welcome series, with full branding and segmentation.
3
Review published
Submitted reviews go live on the exact product with a verified-buyer badge, roll into the product star rating, and feed the homepage Carousel and PDP Nudges.
4
Feeds Google and Facebook
The same verified rating pushes into Google and into Facebook product tiles, so star ratings reach shoppers before they ever land on forageplus.co.uk.

One review collected once, working on the PDP, in Nudges, on the carousel, in Klaviyo flows, and on Google and Facebook.

Google + Facebook + Klaviyo

One review, reaching Google, Facebook and Klaviyo from a single account

Forage Plus's verified product ratings feed into three places at once. Google picks them up for product listings and organic search results. Facebook shows them on product tiles in feed and in Shop. Klaviyo fires the review request through the same email flows that already run abandoned cart and welcome series, keeping every touchpoint on one customer record. All three feeds run automatically from the same WiserReview account, with no separate exports or duplicate collection.

The same verified review earns the click on Google, surfaces on a Facebook product tile, and triggers the Klaviyo flow. One source, three surfaces.

Winter hoof and skin balancer

Recommended by our Equine Podiatrist, we have been using this product for a while now. I do have it on subscription so we are never without it. Dora sustained an injury to her right fore foot around three years ago and after a year of struggling to keep a shoe on the hoof I bit the bullet and took her barefoot. We were originally on another hoof supplement, which although it worked, contained soya oil, and with Dora being a thoroughbred, I try to keep her diet as ulcer friendly as possible. Also I found she can get "picky" with anything containing soya. Forage plus winter hoof and skin balancer has made a huge difference to her hooves, coat and skin. I'm forever grateful for that.

Frequently asked questions

About this case study

What platform does Forage Plus use?

Forage Plus runs on WordPress with WooCommerce on the Shoptimizer theme. The storefront at forageplus.co.uk sells horse feed balancers, supplements and Forage Focused bundles in GBP, with free shipping on UK mainland orders over £80 and international delivery available.

What is the Nudges widget?

Nudges are lightweight, contextual review prompts that surface a recent verified review at the right moment on a product page, usually tied to add-to-cart or a return visit. They sit between a static review block and a full popup, giving the shopper a piece of verified proof at the decision point without pulling them out of the page.

How does WiserReview integrate with Klaviyo for Forage Plus?

WiserReview pushes review request and reminder events into Klaviyo with the exact order, product and buyer context. Review emails are built and sent inside Klaviyo flows, alongside abandoned cart, welcome series and post-purchase sequences. For Forage Plus, this unified review email into the same Klaviyo stack already running the rest of their customer email.

Does WiserReview send Forage Plus's ratings to Google and Facebook?

Yes. The same verified product ratings feed into Google for product listings and organic search results, and into Facebook for product tiles. Both feeds run automatically across the full WooCommerce catalog from one account, with no manual CSV exports when new products are added.

What review tool did Forage Plus use before WiserReview?

A custom in-house reviews system built inside their WooCommerce store. It was not a named third-party like Judge.me, Yotpo or Stamped. Forage Plus moved off the homegrown build to stop spending engineering time on widget fixes, feed tweaks and integration patchwork, and to get one platform feeding Google, Facebook and Klaviyo.

How many reviews did Forage Plus migrate to WiserReview?

Over 1,200 product reviews were imported from the in-house WooCommerce reviews module with star ratings, written feedback, dates and reviewer details preserved. Every review stayed linked to the correct product.

How long did it take to set up WiserReview on Forage Plus's WooCommerce store?

a day of configuration. WiserReview connected to the WooCommerce store, 1,200+ existing reviews imported from the in-house system, Google, Facebook and Klaviyo wired in, and the four widgets (Product Reviews, Star Rating, Carousel and Nudges) went live on the existing Shoptimizer theme with no custom development.
