How to add Facebook reviews to BigCommerce in minutes

BigCommerce has its own review system, but it only handles reviews left on your store. The reviews sitting on your Facebook page stay on Facebook, where your store visitors never see them.

That’s the gap. A shopper reading your product page won’t go check your Facebook page for proof. You have to bring that proof to them, on the page where they decide.

This guide shows how to get your Facebook reviews onto a BigCommerce store, where to paste the code, and where to put the reviews so people see them.

The quick version

BigCommerce has no native button for Facebook reviews, and Facebook no longer lets you embed reviews with its own code. So you have two real routes to choose from.

Method 1 is free and manual: take screenshots of your reviews and add them as images. Method 2 uses a review widget that pulls in all reviews and keeps them current. Both take under ten minutes. Here’s each one.

What you need before you start

Sort these three out first. They save you from redoing the setup halfway through.

  • Admin access to your Facebook page. You need owner or admin rights to connect a tool. A personal profile won’t work, it has to be a business page.
  • Recommendations turned on. Open your Facebook page settings and check that the Reviews or Recommendations tab is on. If it’s off, there’s nothing for a tool to pull in.
  • Store editor access on BigCommerce. You’ll use Page Builder to add the widget, so make sure your BigCommerce user has edit access to the storefront.

Got those three? Then you’re ready to start.

Why BigCommerce can’t do this on its own

BigCommerce comes with its own review feature, and it works fine for reviews people leave on your store. But it was never built to reach out to Facebook.

Two things block a direct connection:

  • Facebook has no public reviews feed. Facebook swapped star reviews for yes or no Recommendations, and it offers no open feed to pull them onto another site. Without that feed, BigCommerce has nothing to connect to.
  • Facebook’s own embed no longer works for reviews. The old three-dots Embed option only works on regular posts, not on Recommendations. Since your reviews are now Recommendations, Facebook’s own code can’t display them.

That’s why you need one of the two methods below: the free screenshot route, or a review tool that logs into Facebook and hands you a code for BigCommerce.

The same approach works on other builders too. We’ve covered it for Wix, PrestaShop, and WooCommerce, and it’s the same idea: connect the page, get a code, paste it.

Method 1: The free way, no tool needed

If you don’t want to sign up for anything, there’s a manual route: screenshot your Facebook reviews and add them to BigCommerce as images. It’s free and needs no account, but it doesn’t update on its own.

Here’s how to do it.

  1. Open your Facebook page and screenshot the reviews you want to show. Include the reviewer name, rating, date, and full text so it looks genuine.
  2. Crop each screenshot and lightly compress it, so it loads fast on your store.
  3. In BigCommerce, open Page Builder, drag an Image widget onto the page, and upload the screenshot.
  4. Add alt text that describes the review, like a five-star Facebook review from a customer name.
  5. Place it near a product’s price or your call to action, then Publish.

This works for a landing page where you want to show a few hand-picked reviews. But know the trade-offs before you rely on it.

  • No auto-update. Every new Facebook review means a new screenshot. The display goes stale unless you keep refreshing it by hand.
  • Google can’t read it. An image of a review carries no schema, so it won’t help you get star ratings in search results the way a widget can.
  • It can look dated. Screenshots age as Facebook changes its design, and mismatched crops look messy next to your store.

So the screenshot route is fine for a quick, one-off display. For a reviews section that stays current on its own, the widget method below is the stronger choice.

Method 2: Set it up with WiserReview

WiserReview connects to your Facebook page, pulls your reviews into one widget, and gives you the embed code for BigCommerce. It shows all your reviews and keeps them up to date. Full disclosure, it’s our product.

Here’s the full setup, start to finish.

Where to paste the code on BigCommerce

Most guides skip this part. The cleanest way to add your widget is through BigCommerce’s Page Builder, which has a dedicated HTML block.

  1. In your BigCommerce admin, go to Storefront, then Themes, and click Customize on your live theme. This opens Page Builder.
  2. Use the page dropdown at the top left to pick the page you want, like your homepage.
  3. In the left panel under Basic, find the HTML widget and drag it onto the spot where you want the reviews.

  4. Paste your WiserReview code into the HTML field, then click Save HTML.

  5. Click Save in the top right, then Publish to push it live.

Nothing shows on your live store until you hit Publish, so don’t worry if the preview looks quiet at first. Page Builder is responsive by default, so the widget adjusts to mobile on its own.

One thing trips people up: paste into the HTML block, not a plain text block. A text block strips the code and nothing shows.

Where reviews sell on a BigCommerce store

Getting reviews onto the store is only part of the job. You also need to put them where people are deciding whether to buy. BigCommerce lets you add widgets to several page types, so use that.

  • Product pages, near the add-to-cart button. This is where buyers stop to think. A few Facebook reviews next to the price help them decide right there.
  • The homepage, below your hero. New visitors want a quick reason to trust you. A row of reviews under your headline gives them one before they leave.
  • Category pages. You can add widgets to category templates. A rating here helps people who are still browsing, before they reach a product.
  • The cart page. BigCommerce lets you add widgets to the cart. A short review near checkout can settle doubts before someone drops off.

Common problems and quick fixes

If your Facebook reviews aren’t showing on BigCommerce, one of these is usually the cause.

The widget area is blank. The script didn’t load. Switch to the iFrame version of the code, since some BigCommerce setups block external scripts, or check the HTML widget has enough height to show the content.

You pasted the code but see nothing. You may have used a text block instead of the HTML widget, or you haven’t published yet. Confirm the code is in the HTML field, then click Publish.

Reviews stopped syncing. Facebook access tokens expire every 60 days. Reconnect the Facebook integration in your review tool to refresh it.

The widget looks off on mobile. Pick a carousel layout for narrow screens, and preview the page on mobile before publishing. Page Builder is responsive, but a wide review wall can still crowd a phone.

Getting started

Facebook reviews build a lot of trust, but only when people actually see them. Left on Facebook, they do nothing for your BigCommerce store.

Connect your page, paste the code into an HTML widget, and start with your product pages. See how it affects your sales, then add reviews to more pages from there.

Show your Facebook reviews on every BigCommerce page

Import every Facebook review, style it to your store, and place it on product, category, and cart pages. It updates on its own. Free plan to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this topic

Yes. Connect your Facebook page to a review tool like WiserReview on its free plan, then paste the embed code into a BigCommerce HTML widget. You get Facebook import and basic display at no cost, with no credit card needed to start.
No. BigCommerce has a native review system, but it only handles reviews left on your store. Facebook offers no public reviews feed, so BigCommerce cannot pull them in directly. You need a review widget to bridge the two and display them.
Use the HTML widget in Page Builder for most pages. Open Storefront, then Themes, click Customize, drag the HTML widget under Basic onto your page, paste the code, and Publish. For a standalone page, use the HTML button in the Web Pages editor.
Yes. Once your Facebook page is connected, the tool syncs new reviews automatically, so your BigCommerce widget stays current without you touching the code again. If syncing stops, reconnect the Facebook integration, since access tokens expire every 60 days and need a refresh.
Not if the widget loads asynchronously. WiserReview's embed script loads after the page renders and serves from a global CDN, so your store speed stays fast. Place the widget where it adds trust, like product pages, without worrying about a performance hit.
