Yotpo vs Reviews.io comparison cover

Yotpo and Reviews.io are both review platforms, and that’s roughly where the similarity ends. One is a Shopify-first suite that pairs reviews with loyalty. The other is a platform-agnostic specialist and a Google partner of more than a decade.

Both changed shape recently: Yotpo shut down its Email and SMS products on December 31, 2025, and Reviews.io now operates inside the Clearer.io app family with a loyalty companion of its own.

I run WiserReview, so I compete with both and I’ll be upfront about that. Here’s the honest comparison on numbers verified in August 2026.

Reviews without the suite pricing

WiserReview collects by email, SMS, and WhatsApp from $9 a month on ten platforms. 7-day free trial.

Quick verdict: Yotpo or Reviews.io?

Yotpo for Shopify brands that want reviews and loyalty on one data layer. Reviews.io for non-Shopify stores and Google-heavy growth. WiserReview when you want the review layer itself from $9.

Pick Yotpo if you’re a Shopify brand past $1M that wants polished widgets, visual UGC, and a native loyalty engine, and can budget $169+ for photo reviews or about $368 with Loyalty.

Pick Reviews.io if you run WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, or a custom stack, and Google Shopping stars are a core channel. Its decade as a Google Licensed Partner is a real credential, priced from $29 with the Google features at $99.

Pick WiserReview if you want photo reviews, Google stars, and AI tools on every plan instead of behind tiers. $9 to $31 by review requests, on ten platforms.

What changed for Yotpo and Reviews.io?

Both vendors restructured, which is why older comparisons describe products that no longer exist.

Yotpo shut down Email and SMS

In an August 2025 open letter, Yotpo’s CEO announced the sunset of its Email and SMS products to refocus on Reviews and Loyalty. The shutdown completed December 31, 2025, with Attentive and Omnisend as official migration partners.

The all-in-one pitch is now a two-product pitch: Reviews and Loyalty, with email flows running through Klaviyo and its peers.

Reviews.io joined the Clearer.io family

Reviews.io now operates as part of Clearer.io, an ecommerce app group, and its own pricing page promotes Influence, a sister loyalty product, alongside bundles for product discovery and returns.

That’s Reviews.io’s answer to Yotpo’s suite: stay a review specialist, and let the family cover loyalty. It also offers a contract buyout for stores mid-term with another review provider.

What it means for this comparison

The suite-versus-specialist line blurred from both sides. What still separates them cleanly: platform support, Google positioning, and how each one bills.

Yotpo overview: the Shopify suite

Yotpo homepage

Yotpo launched in 2011 and grew into the biggest reviews platform in DTC ecommerce. It claims 400 million+ reviews collected and 25,000+ loyalty programs, with customers like Brooklinen, Steve Madden, Princess Polly, and Pandora.

It holds a 4.3 on G2 from about 262 reviews and a 4.7 on the Shopify App Store.

What it does well: depth on Shopify. The most polished widget and gallery library in the category, in-mail review forms that lift completion, Smart Topics AI for sentiment patterns, and a loyalty engine wired into review behavior.

Where it stops: the meter and the gates. Photo and video reviews sit on Pro at $169+, loyalty adds $199 to $599, and tiers climb automatically with order volume.

Multiple independent testers have also flagged widget script weight against Core Web Vitals. My Yotpo pricing breakdown covers every tier.

Ideal fit: Shopify brands past $1M where loyalty is part of the plan.

Reviews.io overview: the Google-partner specialist

Reviews.io homepage

Reviews.io is a dedicated review platform serving 12,000+ brands, now part of the Clearer.io app family. It holds a 4.8 on G2 from about 627 reviews, with a support score of 9.6 out of 10 that beats Yotpo’s 8.8.

What it does well: Google and flexibility. A decade-plus as a Google Licensed Partner means verified Seller Ratings and Shopping stars, and it treats WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, and custom stacks as first-class rather than afterthoughts.

Reviews.io review collection flows

Collection is the clever part: Flow sequences branch on customer behavior, the Review Booster re-targets past non-reviewers, and photo and video collection is included from the base plan.

Where it stops: the feature gates and the domain meter. Google Seller Ratings and Klaviyo need the $99 Start-Up plan, AI summaries need $299, AI replies need $499, and pricing is per domain, so each site is its own subscription.

There’s no free plan, just a 14-day trial. My Reviews.io review covers the full ladder.

Ideal fit: non-Shopify stores where Google Shopping visibility drives growth.

Google stars without the $99 tier

WiserReview overview: every feature on every plan

WiserReview homepage, a product review tool that works across Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Ecwid

WiserReview is my product, so judge this section accordingly. It exists for stores that want what both tools gate, without the gates.

What it does: collects reviews by email, SMS, WhatsApp, and QR code, and displays them in 18+ widgets with photo and video on every plan.

Rich snippets and Google seller ratings sync from the $9 tier up, and AI moderation runs before anything publishes.

WiserReview review management dashboard

It runs on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Magento, PrestaShop, and headless builds. Billing runs on review requests sent: $9 for 1,000 a month, $19 for 3,000, $31 for 5,000 with the full AI suite.

Where it stops: there’s no loyalty program beyond a $6 referral add-on, no built-in Q&A tool, and no free plan, just a 7-day trial. Yotpo’s loyalty engine and Reviews.io’s Influence pairing both go further on retention.

Ideal fit: stores on any platform that want the whole review feature set at the entry price. The full spec comparison lives on WiserReview vs Reviews.io.

Google stars: the feature that splits the three

WiserReview Google review widgets

If Google Shopping stars and Seller Ratings are why you’re reading this, here’s the exact split.

Reviews.io: the deepest credential. A Google Licensed Partner for over a decade, feeding verified reviews into Shopping and Ads, from the $99 Start-Up plan.

Yotpo: Google Shopping and Seller Ratings syndication included in its Reviews plans, alongside Meta and TikTok feeds.

WiserReview: seller ratings and rich snippets on every plan from $9, as a Google Seller Ratings partner with the same ads integration.

Winner: Reviews.io on pedigree, WiserReview on price of entry. The stars look identical on the ad either way.

Pricing compared: three different meters

Yotpo meters by orders. Reviews.io meters by invites and domains. WiserReview meters by review requests. Verified against live pricing pages in August 2026.

Yotpo pricing

Plan Cost What you get
Free $0 About 50 orders/month, basic review collection and widgets
Starter (Reviews) $15 to $129/mo Scales with order volume, core widgets, rich snippets
Pro (Reviews) $169 to $379/mo Photo and video UGC, customization, syndication
Loyalty add-on $199 to $599/mo Points, referrals, VIP tiers, billed separately

The meter: tiers bump with order volume, overage bills at $0.20 per order, and Reviews plus Loyalty realistically starts around $368 a month.

Reviews.io pricing

Plan Cost What you get
Essentials $29/mo 300 review invites, collection, display widgets
Start-Up $99/mo Google Seller Ratings, Klaviyo integration, more invites
Grow $299/mo Reputation management, AI summaries, attributes, surveys
Plus $499/mo AI-generated review replies, priority support

Month-to-month with no annual contracts per Reviews.io’s published pricing, and annual billing saves about 20%.

The catch is per-domain pricing: each top-level domain needs its own subscription, and the two features most stores want, Google stars and Klaviyo, sit on the $99 tier.

WiserReview pricing

Plan Cost What’s included
Starter $9/mo 1,000 review requests, photo and video, widgets, rich snippets, seller ratings
Pro $19/mo 3,000 requests, unlimited reviews, more video, team seats
Pro + AI $31/mo 5,000 requests, AI replies, sentiment, summaries, translation

Billed by review requests sent, one subscription covers your store, and yearly billing takes 3 months off. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

The worked example for a store sending about 1,000 review requests a month: Reviews.io needs the $99 tier for Google stars, Yotpo needs Pro at $169+ for photo reviews, and WiserReview covers both at $9.

Three honest meters, three very different bills for the same job.

Features beyond the headline

Review collection

Yotpo’s in-mail forms and AI timing lift completion on email. Reviews.io’s Flow sequences branch on behavior and add SMS on higher plans. WiserReview collects by email, SMS, WhatsApp, and QR on every plan.

Winner: Reviews.io for automation logic, WiserReview for channel coverage.

Display and widgets

Yotpo’s galleries are the most refined, with script weight as the tax. Reviews.io ships 15+ solid widgets. WiserReview ships 18+ with layouts per platform.

Winner: Yotpo on polish, WiserReview on widgets-per-dollar.

AI features

Yotpo’s Smart Topics reads sentiment patterns on higher tiers. Reviews.io’s AI summaries and replies sit at $299 and $499. WiserReview’s $31 plan includes moderation, replies, sentiment, summaries, and translation.

Winner: WiserReview on access, Yotpo on Shopify-native depth.

Loyalty and retention

Yotpo’s native loyalty engine is the strongest, at $199 to $599. Reviews.io routes loyalty to Influence in the Clearer.io family. WiserReview stops at a $6 referral add-on.

Winner: Yotpo, with Reviews.io’s family option second.

Who should pick which platform?

Platform and budget decide it: Shopify suites point to Yotpo, non-Shopify Google-driven stores to Reviews.io, and every-feature-now stores to WiserReview.

Yotpo is right for

  1. Shopify brands past $1M. The widget polish, visual UGC, and loyalty engine justify the meter at that scale.
  2. Brands that want loyalty wired to reviews. Points for photo reviews and VIP triggers only run natively here.
  3. Stores already deep in the Shopify data model. The integration is the tightest in the category.

Reviews.io is right for

  1. WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Magento stores. Full features without Shopify-first compromises.
  2. Google Shopping-driven brands. The decade-long Licensed Partner integration is the category’s deepest.
  3. Stores that want month-to-month with no contracts. Plus a contract buyout if you’re mid-term elsewhere.

WiserReview is right for

  1. Stores that want every feature at entry price. Photo, video, Google stars, and AI on the $9 to $31 ladder, no gates.
  2. WhatsApp-first markets. The one collection channel neither competitor offers on any plan.
  3. Multi-platform and headless builds. Ten platforms, one subscription, no per-domain meter.

The $9 answer to this comparison

18+ widgets, AI moderation, and WhatsApp collection on ten platforms. Billed by requests, 7-day free trial.

Wrap up: which one should you pick?

Two questions settle it: what platform is your store on, and which features do you need on day one?

Shopify with loyalty in the plan: Yotpo, budgeting $169+ for real photo reviews. Non-Shopify with Google Shopping as the growth channel: Reviews.io, budgeting $99 for the Google tier. Any platform, every feature now: WiserReview from $9.

The expensive mistake is paying a suite meter or a domain meter for features another tool includes at the bottom tier. Map your platform and your must-have features first, then match the meter.
