Send review requests to past customers

How to collect reviews using a CSV upload in WiserReview manual campaigns. Step-by-step guide to importing past customers and sending review request emails.

Updated 22 Aug 2026Collect Reviews

Automation only reaches orders placed after it is switched on. To ask earlier customers for a review, run a one-time campaign from Automate → Manual. Shopify and BigCommerce stores pick a date range and WiserReview pulls the orders; WooCommerce and PrestaShop stores send past orders from their plugin; every other platform, and service businesses, upload a CSV. Requests send right away and count toward your monthly request quota.

Shopify and BigCommerce: choose a date range

  1. Go to Automate → Manual and, under Product review email, open the campaign.
  2. Check the subject, message and review form. Click Next.
  3. Choose a date range: Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, or a custom start and end date. On BigCommerce, also choose the order Status to include: Shipped or Completed.
  4. WiserReview shows how many orders it found and how much quota they will use. Leave Exclude already reviewed items on and click Save.
  5. Click Launch campaign.

Shopify and BigCommerce campaigns always use the date range; the CSV upload is not shown for these stores because WiserReview already has the order data.

WooCommerce and PrestaShop: send past orders from the plugin

Both plugins have a Collect Reviews from Past Customers panel. Pick By Duration (7 days to 1 year) or By Date Range, click Fetch to count the orders, then click Bulk Send (WooCommerce) or Send to Automated Campaign (PrestaShop). The orders join your active automation campaign and are sent on its schedule, so switch the automation on first. WooCommerce includes orders with the Completed or Processing status; PrestaShop uses the order status chosen in the module settings.

Every other platform: upload a CSV

1. Open the bulk campaign

  1. Log in to WiserReview and go to Automate → Manual.
  2. Under Product review email, click Send bulk review requests. Service businesses choose the Service template instead; it asks for a name and email rather than a product.

2. Check the email template

  1. Update the subject and message.
  2. Select the WiserReview form customers will use and the review request type.
  3. Check the preview and click Next.

The form must already exist in the Forms module and match the template type (product or service).

3. Upload the CSV

  1. Enter a campaign name.
  2. Upload your CSV, or download the example CSV first to check the format.
  3. Click Upload & continue.

4. Map the columns

Match each CSV column to a WiserReview field. Columns you do not map are skipped.

Product template fields

Map CSV Columns to Review Fields

  • Email (required)
  • Product ID (required)
  • Product title
  • Product URL and image
  • SKU or variant (optional)

Service template fields

Map CSV Columns to Review Fields

  • First name (required)
  • Email (required)
  • Last name
  • Phone

One product per row. Do not put several Product IDs in one cell. A value like 699, 763 is treated as a single ID that matches nothing, so the review will not link to either product. If a customer bought two products in one order, add two rows with the same customer details.

5. Review and launch

  1. Check the customer list and product details.
  2. Use Preview to see each customer’s email, on desktop and mobile.
  3. Send a test email if you want to see it in an inbox.
  4. Click Launch campaign. WiserReview sends one request per valid row.

Limits

  • One-time campaigns are available on the Starter plan and above.
  • Every request uses one unit of your monthly request quota. WiserReview shows the total before you launch.
  • CSV rows need an email and, for the product template, a Product ID that exists in your synced products. Rows that fail validation are skipped.
  • Requests from a one-time campaign send immediately; the automation’s delay, reminder and follow-up settings do not apply to them.

Frequently asked questions

Does automation email customers who ordered before I set it up?

No. Automation only schedules requests for orders placed after it is switched on. Use one of the paths above for earlier orders.

Can I upload a CSV on Shopify or BigCommerce?

No. Those stores use the date range, because WiserReview can read the orders directly and already has the product details for each one.

Can I send to the same customer twice?

You can launch more than one campaign, but with Exclude already reviewed items on, a customer who has already reviewed a product is not asked about it again. Customers who have not reviewed will receive a request from each campaign you launch, so avoid overlapping date ranges or lists.

Do these requests get reminders?

No. Reminder and media follow-up emails belong to the automation. A one-time campaign sends the first request only.

Where can I see what was sent?

In the Outbox, filtered by the campaign name you entered.
